did you get any yet?

the current price on mtgox which is about 19.5USD and judging from this chart it is what BTC really is worth, the market fluctuations after the “bull market” adjusted it back in order.

here is the mtgox chart with several options selected showing how it’s gained in actual worth:
http://bitcoincharts.com/charts/mtgoxUSD#rg30zig5-minzczsg2011-05-01zeg2011-06-16zvzcvzlztgSzbgBza1gEMAzm1g10zm2g25zxzi1gBBW

the blue stuff is volume, the red means someone took the money out, while the green means someone put money in.
then notice the dip, that more than likely was the LulzBoat sailing through, I do suppose getting out of the way before that happens is a very good idea:

If that is indeed what happened they pretty much cashed in on the amount of hype they created.

looking at the chart you will notice there is no red pole there.
So if that was them it could mean they are only taking out small amounts from their accounts to not mess with mtGox too much, but at the moment though confidence is low because MtGox is being continually DDOS’d.

On the bright side, MtGox signed a contract for a much stronger internets to cope with the DDOS:

$500,000 Worth of Bitcoins Stolen

They say in the threads the guy was one of the early adopters and put in some work,
but for some reason had his entire booty unencrypted sitting on dropbox.
He wrote he was using 6 different scanners and a router firewall:

There is a few different factors but I do believe his mistake may have been using microsoft in all of it.

at the moment there is quite an amount of trading going on.
I should be a journalist, seems they are the ones making the most dollars from this…

not buyin it. bitcoin sounds like seti@home gone horribly wrong… What is all this dedicated cpu power going towards? it wouldn’t possibly be used to break 256 bit encryption codes would it? nah… nobody would ever dream up such a brilliant idea. pay people for their processing power for no reason other than to “mine”?? bull shit. pure bull shit.

Malware that steals your bitcoin wallet.http://www.wired.com…itcoin-malware/

The Bitcoin Faucet is back:

https://freebitcoins.appspot.com/

EFF gave away all their bitcoins.

Because they believe that bitcoins will increase very much in value over the coming years, as opposed to the dollar that has decreases very much in value.

The US risc a hyperinflation in the coming years.
As more and more people start to realize this, they will seek other ways to store their value such as gold and bitcoins, which is now happening and bitcoin has only begun.

But there are lots of different reasons.

Lots of people/companies want to avoid taxes. Illegal reasons etc.

It can also enable micropayments, because there is no cost in doing transactions.

there is a little bit of a cost. when you receive bitcoins and have them just long enough to get a lowest amount of confirmations to be confirmed along with the complexity of the bitcoins and try to transfer them again, the nodes currently put a 0.01 charge on the transfer. this part I don’t fully understand yet.
That 0.01 BTC will add priority to the transfer though.

turns out I was using an old client the new transfer cost is something like 0.0001

there is more in it now for anyone that wants to see how it works.
if anyone does it use a throw away gmail account, I can’t imagine how much junk is going to filter through this thing.

I laughed…

Also, my question was picked and answered.

Good times.

shit… I read the whole that whole thing to find out it was a c/p from another site. XD

here is your link:

Pretty good stuff :)

I was able to check out silk road, the curiousity of it got the best of me.

It’s just like some shit out of GTA, or even drug warz, super simple interface, with a bunch of illegal crap on it.
I got excited for a second when I saw the electronics section,
I was hoping to see frequency jammers and other kinds illegal electronics,
but it was nothing but mostly consumer crap, some modded but still consumer crap, nothing homemade.
Drug prices were double street value, so it’s not worth much.
if people are willing to figure out how to get there and pay double street value, they may as well have it. XD

Hacker group claims to have US President candidate Mitt Romneys Tax Records. Records which he did not himself want to reveal.
Now they “threaten” to reveal them unless a Bitcoin adress is filled with $1 million in Bitcoins.

But they also made another adress. One which if its filled before. They claim will reveal the content.

The story made CNN and is all over the web.

On CNN with 5000+ comments.
http://edition.cnn.com/2012/09/06/politics/romney-tax-threat/index.html

Someone made a website where you can follow or even pay Bitcoins to the two adresses.
http://nandbit.com/romney/

What does this mean?

Anyone in the world can send some Bitcoins and thus affect the result of this. Even Putin or chinese government people, since Bitcoin makes sending coins all over the world possible.
Not just US people.
This could almost be looked at as a chance for anyone to directly affect the course of history.

Well if this is not a fraud. But I believe they did go through the risk and trouble of leaving USB sticks at both the republic and democratic headquarters.
But ofcourse this really focus the attention on his income tax records no matter the outcome.

Some also speculate with a tinfoilhat on that it could even be a way for Mitt Romney to produce fake records and this gives them credibility since they are “released” by hackers.

But the story continues.

Then someone sent a binary message to one of the adresses

Someone at the Bitcoin forum managed to get this out of the message:
815 Brazos St Ste 500 Austin, TX 78701

And this:

09.10.12
08:30

Lower frequencies

ALL SHALL BE
REVEALED

never mind me… sometimes I just make posts, and not even consider the whole story…

“big edit.” as we like to say… “bitcoins rule.”

Off topic = Renoise is a mystery.

Bitcoins are a bubble thats going to burst, its basically a scam. Long term its going to collapse. I suppose short term you could scam some money out of it.
