To start in Windows:
HashMyFiles is a nice simple way to get hashes quickly, but also adds a right-click menu entry Open In VirusTotal Website that allows you upload any file to https://www.virustotal.com which is super useful/convenient (sometimes you do need to zip stuff first for it to work)
Microsofts Powertoys for Windows has so many useful features, one specific for us is the Advanced Paste option where you can copy a WAV file and paste it as MP3 but have a look as it has so much other goodness.

Largely dependent on OS & other whether 32/64bit or compat… So one should specify…
One I always have installed is PerfGraph (Win32/64) which shows graph on taskbar of CPU load or can be RAM usage or other either combined graph or one for each core… Site is gone now but wayback still works-

SKWire has alotta desktop & system utility & more… I use several like ‘Click-to-Desktop’ & there’s a wallpaper changer that has a stop function for apps that you do not want the wallpaper changed underneath while it’s running, an exclusion list… I have a 3D app that will stop rendering if the wallpaper is changed underneath it, so forth…
