That’s truly a journey in sound. Very rich ambient environments. This I think is exceptional in a sence that it’s good for active listening. Ambient music is so often just for the background.
Hi,
I wouldn’t call myself a musician, but I am a big fan of the topic and making such trashy stuff since I am 14 (1991) .
Started with Soundtracker and later Protracker on my first Amiga 500, did some lame cracktro tunes, mostly Rave and some lame chiptunes… Then later I bought a Korg 01W/FD and made a lot of Ambient and Hardtrance tunes using Octamed over the years. Some Hiphop with friends. Also tried a bit of Oktalyzer… After that I switched to Windows, maybe in 1993? and still used OctaMED, now MIDI with 01w + sample based drums only.
Also around 2002, Renoise came into my attention. Also tried all the Arguru Trackers before and did some okish tunes in Jeskola Buzz. But my main DAW then already was Cubase in which I made Funky House… Used it until SX 2 or so.
I seriously started with Renoise in 2006 or so, in parallel with Logic, on my Hackintosh. In 2018? I also bought Bitwig. Those are my main DAWs now.
I had some public releases, later deleted most of them, was tired about the attention game, watching visitor counts and so on. Had some releases on bandcamp, but not anymore. I never finish a proper album. The more technical I know, the worse my creativity and flow are… Or similar. Also I started like 46983059 song projects, which 2% were quite ok. Seems like I have a problem with focussing Nothing really interesting to tell here anymore. I think I know a lot about mixing, synth programming, and technical details mostly… I wish I had a brain for music harmonics, I only have quite a good intuition in this area and maybe rhythm, too.
Oh, my mom was a professional piano player and music teacher. I hated it being teached by her, mostly refused it as a teenager.
Best compliment! I have succeeded in my art, then. I’ve always been drawn to that horror movie soundtrack/sound-art “ambient” music. Where if you close your eyes you’re still in the scene. I suppose I’ve always been attempting to achieve that, whether consciously or not. To hear that you’re drawn to actively listen to my work tells me I’m getting closer to what I’m after in my sound-design/composition/production.
I’ve got a new series I’ve put together that really feels authentic to myself that I am preparing to begin releasing. “Whispers in the Attic” is what I’m calling it and I think it will be an ongoing series. Fading fragments of memory and thoughts barely remembered/forgotten. The bulk of the processing/design was done in Reaper, but Renoise will be an integral piece of the puzzle for the source material. Will post it once I get it uplaoded.
