Ugh. I just saw some examples of how to embed videos.

Seriously guys, WHY break old functionality? You’ve pretty much rendered a whole slough of old posts useless, and have introduced a format that is quite frankly something most people aren’t going to bother with–and as I can see, I’m not the only one frustrated with the new format.

Why not keep both methods of embedding videos? You shouldn’t have to disable one to enable the other.

Seriously–this is stupid, between embed and /embed codes one has to put: src=http://www.youtube.com/v/(video source) width=425 height=344

Height, width? Src? Come on guys. :(

You got it all wrong dude… check out the media tag! [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oz88kJSdT6Y[/media] =
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oz88kJSdT6Y

That said, I also think they should leave the deprecated tag for legacy posts… but the media tag is much better

EDIT:

I stand corrected… it seems the [media] tag is broken for some reason… :(

[embed]object width=560 height=340 param name=movie value=http://www.youtube.com/v/K9PcTqoWM_0&hl=en_US&fs=1& param name=allowFullScreen value=true param name=“allowscriptaccess” value=always src=http://www.youtube.com/v/K9PcTqoWM_0&hl=en_US&fs=1& type=application/x-shockwave-flash allowscriptaccess=always allowfullscreen=“true”

it’s something like this, remove a bunch of these “”" and “<>” and put embed on off in brackets. then it works.

[embed]object width=560 height=340 param name=movie value=http://www.youtube.com/v/K9PcTqoWM_0&hl=en_US&fs=1& param name=allowFullScreen value=true><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/K9PcTqoWM_0&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340[/embed]&lt;br/">```

I use to have it in my sig but the new invision editor ate it.

[embed]object width=560 height=340 param name=movie value=http://www.youtube.com/v/1wMoPSsn2-8&hl=en_US&fs=1& param name=allowFullScreen value=true param name="allowscriptaccess" value=always src=http://www.youtube.com/v/1wMoPSsn2-8&hl=en_US&fs=1& type=application/x-shockwave-flash allowscriptaccess=always allowfullscreen="true"

It seems really specific.

easiest way I can see is to copy both the above and the embed from YT into the editor, change any size tags and copy the the link w/ ISO stuff to the 2 places in the fixed embed code above.

testing…

[embed]object width=“853” height=“505”[/embed]

Yeah–there’s no simple way to do it. This really needs to be fixed.

I think they don’t fix it, because of something similar to me putting the steve zissou dance (YT) or world builder (vimeo) in my sig last year and after a lot of posts in one thread, it can really add up and wonk-i-fy the forum experience. Like, if it was easy, everyone would be doing it, I think.

Tags could easily be stripped from the signature editor to prevent such abuse.
I would think the primary reason for not fixing the tag is just a lack of time, since there are more important things to fix (the “offline” parts of the site such as the online manual for instance.)

Please don’t remove flash support from signatures… I think it’s great to be able to place embedded music players in our sigs, as long as they don’t insta-play.

Bantai wrote fixed the media tag as in:it was broken. (I could not get it to work either)

Will the new [youtube] tag work on the old [youtube] tag'd videos?

I was thinking this thread mostly… but yeh :P

Last time I tried posting this using the media tags, it failed:

BUT IT WORKED THIS TIME! :D

Excellent. Thanks so much for this! This is great!!!
