Just found this, really quite cool. I love the kick drum variation, halving the tempo and bringing it back up. Very cool.

I tried to do some psytrance stuff but 90% of the time was spent in making the kick + bass, which is not the funniest thing in the world.

Nah, I never use sample packs, except for snarez & hi hats… I synthesize my kicks and bass, and everything else - all within native renoise. I do like to use Adventure Kid’s waveforms as a starting point for some things, but everything you hear in this track except for the aforementioned percussion elements and the odd vocal sample or real-world sound source came right out of renoise’s native capability. lots of sound design potential in this software!
Yeah, kickbass has a learning curve, but once you grok it there’s a lot of fun to be had in psy styles - especially if you like sound design
