aliasing multiple pattern matrix cells as a block

When I want to quickly alias a bunch of pattern matrix cells to a single pattern cell, I’ll highlight a bunch of cells vertically, press command-p, and type the pattern number.

This doesn’t work if there’s consecutive cells that I want to alias together. For example, aliasing patterns 0-1-2-3 repeatedly as 0-1-2-3-0-1-2-3-0-1-2-3-etc… The way I deal with this case is to alias patterns one at a time until I’ve made an entire set of aliases (0-1-2-3), then copy and paste that aliased set of cells. Is there a more efficient way (preferably using the keyboard) to do this?

I think you could write a tool to do this. … There is also a tool that can alias this stuff for you, “after the fact.” You’ve seen this already? Tool (3.1): Alias Identical Slots

This way, if you have 256 patterns, and your identicals are 0, 1, 2, 3, + 4, 5, 6, 7, + etc, etc… Unfortunately though, you can only achieve it, “after all the patterns are in place.”
