@joule: I see much of every comment you write always starts and ends with word like ‘bs’, ‘nonsense’, ‘masturbation’ , ‘irrelevant’ ‘rant’ and so on and I am more than sure that if I put your gems through a spam filter it would filter it out as spam or porn. So my question is why are adding to it? Not much of substance apart from all that ‘text’.
Also not getting engaged in a debate intellectual or not automatically puts you out of it, so why bother to let everyone know. Not sure if I missed you in the first place.
But hey we all love Renoise so why don’t we quite quibbling and either put forward genuine debate worthy arguments or just go about your usual routine. No one is forcing you to answer.

You seem to wield a very keen mind, encrypted, though the speed and elaboration of your posts might at times make it a bit strenous for other people to try to follow, if their minds are not as vivid as yours seems. it is interesting to co note on your point that a “god” cannot create anything more complex than himself…that humans are already both capable as well as still incapable of it. I think we are already able to create rationaly analysis and evaluation tools, that in power surpass our own mind’s ability to juggle with information by great leaps. We could even try to simulate our own descision finding in those tools, though we are maybe better of to still only use these logic machines as pure analysis tools, not as descision making entities, as our own engineering is far from infallible. We created such methods that can surpass our own reasoning, by being able to handle abstraction, and to share the work to large groups people going an evolutionalry approach, and each dedicating himselfs to single facets of the created machines to surpass the limitations in thinking that a single individuum would have trying to do it alone.
at the same time we still cannot surpass ourselves in another thing that is about our own mind, that we simply cannot understand yet how it works…it is about the illusion present in our consciousness, and consciousness itself. It could be simulated in simplified ways, but not recreated by us. It is there and seems to possess great power and depth in creating a reality, and it reflects all our senses and the results of inner workings. yet it would not need to, for us to function from viewed from the outside, to act the same way as we do with, we could do completely without if more simple mechanisms would replace it, theoretically I think. And we really don’t know a shit about it, what it is composed of, how it is created (by the brain?), what dimensions it has and potentially could have, and also what is the spectator watching parts of it all the time. It is probably one of the biggest remaining mysteries inside the range of existant things already encountered by us. I chuckle a bit at the thought, that there are people who dedicate their time to argue that…earth is a flat disc (besides their main point is probably not about the disc thing, but rather about generally questioning the truthfullness of information given to them by other people…), when they could have much more fun on this special topic.
Regarding the reverb thing, you might find your joy in reading books about psychoaccoustics. It is also a very interesting topic for electronic musicians and mixing/mastering enineers, and can aid greatly in finding ways to produce more effective music specifically geared towards the human perception of sounds. You will find, that whatever creates consciousness and the illusion of sound we are perceiving (and can let us hear the reverb tail seperate from the excitation sound under certain circumstances, I believe technically this should already be possible, though it is a process about much tuning and using lots of data of spatial relevance and excessive computing…might even be able to reconstruct outlines of the space a reverb is happening in…), is quite some apt imposter on us, letting us ever only see single aspects of the sound, but at the same time having the impression of perceiving the whole thing while in reality we don’t. Also I find a certain technique fun, to let a sound seemingly have more body, by adding reverb to it but destroying its spatial cues and tail in certain ways, so the mind is tricked to not view it as spatial reaction any more. You know a bit like gated drums. Then you can reverb the new hazy sound object, and the mind will perceive the (altered) reverb inside a space with reverb that still tricks the mind to be perceived spatially.

I do agree that our mental faculties can be collectively used for a more coherent research and not regret later on a wasted opportunity. Books are no doubt plenty for anyone including me to get our heads around for music phenomena. @Danoise mentions Your Brain On Music and I read that partially some time back, it is riveting and a great read, time to go and finish it.

Good science is obviously useful when the results from experiments are reproducable but there are also scientists who use the wrong statistical analysis to confirm their hypotheses even when their hypotheses were clearly wrong. Experiments can be twisted and made to suit whatever company funded them.
For example, tobacco companies which “discovered” through experimentation that tobacco is harmless or drugs companies who “found” that their opiate drugs are harmless. Or the slave owner bastards who “discovered” the disease “drapetomania”. Or like someone said earlier psychiatrists who decided that they could get paid to stab people in the head or electrocute them…sure those things will reduce “talking behaviour” or “writing behaviour” or whatever.
Its important to remember just how completely evil and selfish people can be.
Being a scientist with a scientific method doesnt equate to being good for humanity.
There are scientists that will develop and sell disgusting weapons to anyone who can pay.
DNA weapons, mind weapons, microwave weapons…the list goes on.
Morality is stilll important, but both morality and intelligence are difficult to define.
The problem in what kinds of science recieves funding stems from mafia-like simpleton thugs who only understand profit ( oil companies, weapons companies, drugs companies etc.).

By comparison if a musician tells you he does not know any note name or how to sight reading etc and cannot play 2 chords one might analytically surmise he is an idiot. But that is the trick about art, it’s directly connected to the ultimate hotline of our creator and the universal mind. The artist does not need to engage in analysis to be inspired, in fact inspiration is what all artists chase for rest of their lives, not analysis. We can also call such musicians if they cannot even make music, ‘tone deaf’ very safely , because ‘they can hear the sound but cannot hear the music’.
A scientist if lucky gets inspired, otherwise spends rest of his life doing analysis. Tries to engineer a man made convoluted system of communication technology using earthbound materials aka telephone line, to have a conversation with his maker. Scientists are tone deaf for real.

Science was originally invented as a branch of philosophy and technology to make life easier, not more convoluted.
Just in the process of pure investigation, kindly watch this Greek talk show from a recent episode and try to objectively debunk or analyse what this guest is talking about. At the very least give him some kudos for his sincerity, becos I feel there is lot of truth to what he is saying. Far better than the usual violence and sex paraphernalia you get to see on ‘mainstream’ TV. At least makes you think for once. Take it as a philosophy debate before making it a ‘scientific’ one. He also makes an allowance saying that his ‘model’ better serves the results of his observations and inferences than the round earth spinning model, which is welcome any day. He is not dogged about anything like Richard Dawkins is. In my hypothetical opinion earth could very well be an inverted bowl taking cues from both flat and round earth.
If there is a lot of botched science floating to the top and the regular scientist outlawed then only outlaws will be scientists.

The main psychiatric “therapy”, for a long time was stabbing people in the head ( lobotomy ), but when people started to question how on earth damaging someones brain by head stabbing could ever be medicine they changed their tactics and started poisoning the brain and damaging the brain through electrocution. To this day they still get away with calling brain poisoning “medication” and electrocution “therapy”.

So many people, without realising it are backing up these non-scientific tools of oppression using the jargon of the oppressors who are percieved as sophisticated and succsessful so that they can too can be percieved as sophisticated and succsessful. For example, it has become fashinable recently for people to say “I am really obsessive compulsive” about something or “[something] is in his DNA”…
The language of oppression is common in our everyday vocabulary. For example “imbecile”, “idiot”, “moron”, “retard” are all born of non-scientific oppression being sold as science.

Apparently people think A432Hz is holy or something.

Their tuning forks were not that accurate.

I have heard a lot of tracker music in which all the instruments in a song are tuned to a random sample or an old school .xi instrument…In tracker music in general, the pitch of A probably fluctuates even more than those classical guys with their battered old tuning forks…not to mention how messed up the tuning in some FM instruments or supersaw instruments is. Awesome to explore out of tune and dischordant stuff but in the end it is good to have perfect tuning and harmony…people went too far with that wall of noise style its just irritating.
