Average/Max Gain level VU Meter

Hi all!

I browse the entire Tools section but i din’t find what i need or i just missed it: a simple VU meter like in Ableton, where the VU meters shows the max Gain level AND the average Gain level. I think this is important for Gain Staging. I use Voxengo’s SPAN where i can setup for AVG-MAX but a little bit unconfortable opening the VST for each channel where something make sounds. So, my qestion is: is there any simple VU meter with AVG/MAX, like the “normal” VU meter on each track? Thx! Sorry if i knocking on open door!

I just replied to a different post (before seeing yours) and one of the things I said was the need for peak values near the meters.

Show peak values near the meters, like in every other DAW. There’s no way to know the values unless you solo and go to the Master channel (or use a VST…). The other way is sticking to the default peak references (like -24db, -6db etc). However the meters are small and hard to watch for the reference values.

In fact, this was the first problem I had with Renoise when I purchased it years ago. It’s my most desired feature. It makes a lot of difference when mixing.

I would love to see more robust native metering in the future, as well.

As a workaround, sometimes I will place a maximizer with my desired target ceiling in db on a given track and adjust gain earlier in the signal chain so that it’s barely triggering the maximizer. far from ideal, but helps lock things in.
