Hola,
Long time no post.
Just getting back into renoise, but have run into some snags that hopefully the more knowledgable can help with. Hopefully many will benefit from the Qs.
Question summary/topics bolded.
How to assign specific sample slices to certain tracks? SOLVED see below post
Is it possible to assign/send specific sample slices from both a non-destructive and destructively sliced sample/loop? So, for example, if you have an amen or other drum loop, you could send your bass drums to one output/bus/aux/track and your snares/highs/etc to another?
Way for parameters to go up/down during retrigger?
From the renoise manual:
“0Rxy - Retrigger note every y ticks with volume x, where x represents:”
Does this mean that the volume will increase from whatever the volume is set to on the note itself to the amount you set for x? This is what I interpret it as, but, I’m not hearing it when I program it. The roll/retrigger/notes just seem to be the volume of whatever’s in the vol/vel column.
If I have misinterpreted this, is there a way for the volume to increase from the original note volume to the end of the roll/retrigger? (as if interpolating volume up/standard volume increase)
Similarly, is there a way to have other commands/pitch/pan go up/change from the original note to the end of the roll/retrigger? (as if interpolating normal notes)
How to add effect commands and/or interpolate from fractional notes/slice to pattern tool/with more note on one line at a time playing linearly (one after the other)?
If you have more than one sample/note on a line (not at the same time, either from using the fractional notes tool or from the slice to pattern tool so one plays after the other), if it is possible at all, how do you put in commands for each note separately? So if you want to you pitch up Uxx, or pitch down Dxx for one note on that line, but not others, how do you do this?
Not solved but answered. This is not currently possible in native renoise, as highlighted here How to add effect commands + interpolate, more than one note-per-line? Similarly, if it is possible, how do you interpolate panning/volume/etc for notes when you have more than one on the same line? (have attempted but no luck so far).
How to use lines per beat/etc but ensure stuff stays in time?
When you change lines per beat with the global command ZLxx, is there an easy way to calculate so that that particular clip/(your song in general) stays in time with another DAW? Or does it just take some working out?
How to have individual tracks with different global parameters?
Is it possible to have one track with more lines per beat (or other different global parameters) than another? So, say, have your main rhythm tracks using 4 lines per beat and then for glitchy fills having 1 or 2 tracks that have 8, or 16 lines per beat?
SOLVED Things that I’ve just worked out for myself, that other newbies might benefit from.
How to move a bunch of automation at once?
It seemed like I wasn’t able to move multiple selected automation points at once, but I realised that this was due to either the “Draw” or “Line” buttons below the automation envelope lane were selected (and I thought that one had to be selected at a time, but you can turn both “off” by clicking on them so they go grey).
Slice to pattern out of time
When I was using the slice to pattern tool, one of my loops was running at double time, but the other was fine. I had 32 Lines and 4 LPB. On closer inspection 32 was listed next to beatsync on the sampler page for one of the loops, whereas the one that was double time was listed as 16. If you change the beat to go in time with the amount of lines, that lines it up.
(I have looked around, hopefully I’m not being blind, but I haven’t found solutions so far). Most of what I’m attempting to do is around glitch/braindance/breakcore type rolls/effects.
(Perhaps if I read the manual from cover to cover then that would answer my questions, but I don’t have time for that right now, and I have searched but come up with no answers so far.)
(If it would be best for me to post the questions on separate threads then let me know mod gods, I wasn’t sure how best to go about this, and didn’t want to flood the board.)
Cheers guys.
Look forward to making and sharing some noises. />/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/> />/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/> />/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/> />/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/> />/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>
