Mozart didn’t have any computer, of course. He tracked manually, writing numbers on paper with his pen! Haven’t you seen Amadeus? Salieri reads Wolfgang’s on-paper printed .xrns. He also wants to have sex with his Wolfgang’s wife, but never fullfils it, why? He doesn’t track; he’s not a real man!
Sure, he punched holes in books that took care that the Church organ played by himself.
Punchbooks were the XRNS files of the past
I’ve had this thought many times, and it applies (sort of) to why I still use and enjoy Renoise.
I’m often distraught that I can’t produce the sound I want, and in moments of monumental frustration I have blamed Renoise. In periods of great and furious madness I have tried FL Studio, whatever the Cakewalk one is (Sonar?), and Reason, as well as demos of others. I found the experiences even more frustrating. It took me much longer to do what I wanted to do, and I never created anything close to what I had with Renoise.
I finally realized that the problem was myself, that Renoise (for me) was the best tool to get the job done, and that any difficiences I or others find in my creations are solely the responsibily of the creator and not the tool he created with.
Maybe the person who started this topic was experiencing the same dilemma that I have?
I am no Mozart/If Mozart had Renoise he’d probably create some rocking music.
Haha! Awesome! That means that per laptop, they have like 3 hours of pure tracking bliss, before they need a new one! Should work, we’ll hold Haitian one-hour-compos!
Heh, the original post kinda reminds me situation 15 years ago, we (little brats) were playing football outside and some guy became bored and was quite angry, I don’t know why. He suddenly walked away and shouted: “So I go now!” … No response. He probably thought we didn’t hear him so he shouted even louder: “I said I go NOW!” We were like “WTF, don’t let the door hit you on the way out!” and he left with shame.
I don’t know why am I writing this right now.
Ahaha, that would be me. It’s a shame you can’t slam doors on the intarwebs!
a bit ot but it doesn’t warrant a seperate topic…
i’m trying to help a friend get started with ableton live and lol i dont know shit all about it.
anyone got any tips to decent tutorials and such? would be greatly appreciated : D
cheers!
What I did to get started was enslaving Renoise to Ableton, track to your heart’s content, then render tracks as samples into Ableton and build a tune from there. It’s a safe and foolproof way of getting to know the software. Don’t know about tutorials, I’m not a tutorial kinda guy. I’ve become a fan of Operator already, though! As a matter of fact, I’ve been using Renoise less and less these past months…

He obviously didn’t find the COWBELL BUTTON.
