Dead Dog Renoise Competition Round 20

I got an headache now… nothing works, gotta find a plan c…

The last sample is a white noise sample which come from the C64 it’s short so you need to layer it to get a more random noise sample, then with some filters and pitch tweak you can make percussive stuff.

@üav: i hate you for being so good at so much stuff. damn you üav!
@TheBellows: leave your preconceptions at the front door; try doing a song without ‘nice percussion sounds’, just use bleeps etc, be creative!
@ex-sedate: you should get a pat on the back just for being on the verge of quitting and then still keeping on.

in fact, you all should get pats on the back for the efforts you are making, and i am really looking forward to the results.

What do people think of maybe extending this round for an extra week? Interesting rule but a little hardcore for people who haven’t tried much like this before. People even managed with the Sound Of Silence round a fair bit easier than this (although there were quite a few examples to take ideas from with that one.)

Added poll.

Sorry to sound like a proper spaz but how do you layer the wave forms to create a new sound without being able to render to sample?

Have a look at the Noise Instrument in the template song. Check the Sample Keyzones tab.

This example uses only one Sample but has it assigned to two layers, at a octave apart. You can do the same with multiple waveforms or chords by laying the same one at the correct tunings.

Obviously this is only possible if you are using Renoise 2.7

Take a look :Mulitlayer instrument tutorial

okay it’s finished, concerning melodic lines, I finally used the samplepack with specific instruments properties and envelopes, however I had to use renoise native synthesis / tuned devices, for most of the drumkit elements (kik disto snare, clap…), it took me some time to define the proper framework for this one.

From the result of the poll so far it looks like we’re gonna have an extra week for this one. Have your current entry so unless you send an updated one by next week I’ll use that one (assume the extension does happen.)

yes I see that the extension will probably happen,
but anyway I have no choice
I won’t be able to use this extra compo time
I got lots of things to do outdoor tonight,
these next days
(including all the weekend),
plus several important job-related duties
next week…
I guess that I won’t have more time to revamp
the whole thing and make a better mix,
so even if it could be highly improved,
I’ll let it like that.

Btw I love you rhowadlt

Deadline extended, you have an extra week my friends.

Thanks, and that’s a great accent.

I’ve was so busy all last week and this week with school, so I never had much time to fiddle with this compo’s template, but since I just saw the extension 2day…i’ll try and track a lil’ this weekend.
thanks kazakore for more time.

Is it bad that basically every day I have said to myself I hope to try and do a little more on this I have been far too hung over and sleep deprived to actually be able to consider doing anything on Renoise? Shame as I don’t think I’ve touched it since last tuesday and time is not running short!

My attempt shall not meet the light of day, but thanks very much to all for teaching me some new techniques.

I might be on to something now. :P

Submitted and quite happy with my track, at last i didn’t really see the limitations as limitations, but as opportunities.

my friend, you have achieved a temporary form of enlightenment. you can now go and feel good about yourself. :)
