Oh my days - two points per line +1
+1 for more “precise” automation.

Seriously though, I just want to create a instant change in automation, make it happen!
been missing this a lot as well.
so … +1
+1 !
Adding my desire for improved automation to the pile: +1.
For me, automation is a killer feature. It’s how I add organic and natural expressions to otherwise synthetic and linear sounds. But I also need it to make sudden changes, or changes out of time with the beat. Basically, if I can imagine a curve–any curve–I want to be able to use it.
No, but it makes getting the sound/impact we want much easier. This is more a problem with Renoise’s UI than its internals, I think. Once you’ve got a curve in the program, it’s not hard to use it; that’s what DAWs everywhere are for. It’s just that the interface Renoise gives us for describing automation curves is limited. It’s excellent at what it does do. It’s what it doesn’t do that’s the problem.
And if I haven’t yet truly made clear how much I want this to be improved: I really, really, really want this to be improved.
Jonas, that’s basically a nice idea, but how do you imagine editing the envelopes directly on the pattern editor since the blocks are TINY?
But definitely this is one area where some immediate developement would be well in place. Arbitrary bezier curves would be the way to go I say…
+1 for vertical lanes.
would be nice if one could switch between alfa-numerical data in the fx column and a vertical lane (in the pattern) and get different representation of the control data imo. sometimes it’s faster to edit by drawing and sometimes is using the keyboard the best.
i never understood why the lane is horizontal but then again, i’m a noob to renoise so i guess there are reasons.
Bringing this thread back. Anyway automation can be improved through scripting?
The automation in Renoise needs a proper upgrade, not a quick fix!
This include better preset storage options
bumping this one again. 2.6 was released, the devs should have all the time in the world right now
I slipped into the I&S forum to post this very thread, and here it is.
We need the following:
- two points per line
- tick level point placement
- automation curves for each point (linear, bezier, logarithmic/exponential, and maybe even wave)
The automation in Renoise is very very disappointing. I am a huuuuge Renoise fanboy, but this drives me away every time I try to automate something even remotely complex.
2.7 guys. Come on.
Noticed this too, fixed points per line for automation doesn’t make sense…
+9001 for automation “fix” from me too…
I like the current solution. I am not a supporter of placing the automation in the matrix pattern just to get it looked nice. Instead, I propose to create an opportunity to preview a few curves automate parameters in one frame. For example, if we are automating for the 3 parameters: cutoff, resonance and drive, they are all displayed simultaneously in a minimized version. When you select from a list of parameters, then maximize it to full size, and the rest are still minimized. Since the frame of the automation is too small to display a 5 (or more) curves of which one would be maximized, should appear on the sides or rolls to be able to scroll the curves up or down. Unless the frame with automation curves will have the ability to scale (Y axis).
and of course +1 for ramps
yes!
i thought the matrix (formerly arranger) would do this job.
and i hope the guys in charge read it.
more values on the effects column please and the addition of saving values in the fx column to the automation editor and back
Yes. This would be super handy.
+1000 for higher-res autmation and more types of curves.
