I think it would be cool to have the instrument envelopes locked to a key zone instead of the whole patch. It would be way useful for creating drum synth patches out of primitives or multi velocity filter envelopes.
For example, if you select a zone the envelope editor reverts back to default, and you can turn the envelopes on for each zone and they all act independently on their own.
Also if you select more than one sample or hit CTL+A to select all of them, you could do a blanket envelope edit say for volume, and then edit others individually, stuff like that.
Another thing to imagine that this would be useful for is say, a group of samples on one key that has different envelopes synced to time and looping, kind of like a vector synth a la wavestation. Or a group of samples on different keys that have different filter envelopes for different rendered sequences. Myriad of possibilities here.
Well, it already does that for different instruments so the framework is already there, it’s all a matter of applying the same process for each zone. No GUIs are being moved, and nothing fundamental is being changed or even created, just rearranged a bit. I say, maybe 20-30 lines of new code max throughout the whole program on the crappiest day with tornados and hurricanes. Small fix that extends functionality ten fold IMO.
Taktik has already stated this is the first wave of enhancements to the Instrument section, individual envelopes for samples/keyzones will come but not in this version.
