I have spent a decent amount of time trying to recreate this fast acid sequenced thing and haven’t been able to get anything that sounds like it. I have 2 303 VSTs and the sh-101. I know one of them is involved. I’m still a little new at using them though (i play drums primairly). It’s obviously a sequenced sound cut up… but I just don’t understand 1. what the actual sequence is (it’s hard to tell what notes are being played) 2. how to get it filtered like in his song
Like I said I’m a drummer so the drums I have a very good idea of how he made but how the heck do you get this specific sound? Btw I’ve looked at all the YouTube videos that are around and they aren’t this exact thing. They’re for different songs that don’t have this vibe.
Thanks for the info! That sequencing vid is solid.
As for the sound I’m still gonna keep trying stuff until I get close haha. If anyone else has tried I’d love to hear what you did and how it worked out. It’s the coolest shit I’ve ever heard.
Micro tonality is a big part of the sound. Also I’m pretty sure player pro had a particular type of sound and it’s probably a real hardware synth sequenced and resampled with fx and eq and whatever else added. It might not be a 303 at all.
In it’s most basic form, this is a simple fast sequence that uses a lot of short notes that sound great with a fast envelop on the filter cut off frequency, filter resonance tweaks, distortion of some sort, most likely processed in other ways, rendered to audio, and cut up and manipulated with a “slice” workflow of some sort.
Well , if the E.P. covers are anyting to go by , then yes probably .
I had all of them but d lost them during a move ,every month (2004-2005)s to the record store to get the latest e.p.release …great times !!
They are really rising in price on discogs
Just to show you how important micro tonality is to the Aphex sound i made a little loop, its more analord style than druqks but you should get the idea. SoundCloud - Hear the world’s sounds

your loop didnt work im interested to hear it though! also would love to know what you’re doing for that clip to effect it microtonality wise? i just did about an hour of research on micro tonality and comb filtering so if you have anything else i should look up on it let me now.
i’ve got it a lot closer than a few days ago. ill probably post it if i get it real close
