High Frequency hearing test. How well do you do?

http://onlinetonegenerator.com/hearingtest.html

I can’t hear anything over 15k and I’m 34 years old.

How well do you do?

About 14,5kHz and i’m 35.

I heard some higher freqs when i upped the volume though.

14.5 kHz left ear, 13.5 kHz right ear, age 53.

TBH I’m quite amazed about this result - I always used to listen way too loud on headphones and preferred ear drilling volumes at parties etc.

Isn’t this massively dependent on the equipment you are using to listen with?

I can hear something all the way until the end of the test but it gets faint around 18khz and sounds like it’s not rising at that point. Not sure what I’m hearing above that, I really doubt my hearing is that good.

Wow I seem to have quite a hole around 10kHz :frowning: I blame core audio :stuck_out_tongue: left ear: max 12,5khz, right: 13,4khz, age 38

Interesting, I have a “hole” around 6000-8000, I can hear it but it’s quieter than the surrounding tones. I wonder if this is part of why I am asking people “What” all the time lately?

Human speech only goes to around 5k.

Oh well. No I’m just going deaf in general I guess…

Human speech only goes to around 5k.

Try filtering some vocals to 5Khz, there is a lot of important information above that frequency.

Same here, but I have this problem since youth a bit. I now swapped audio interfaces from impact twin, to firewire 1814, and the max freq is now around 13,5khz. But bump at 10Khz on right ear, and around 9Khz at left ear. So some stereo effect  But currently I have kind of tinnitus and a cold in ears, I will try in a week again.

what? huh? hæ? Could you say that again?

I heard some bumps/holes/panning, too, but as Meef already pointed out, I blame it on the hardware. Different hardware gave me different such holes.
So basically I can hear up to 13kHz in a reliable manner atm, which is about my age’s average.

I didn’t notice any holes, so i guess my hardware has a pretty flat response. Using Roland Quad Capture with KRK Rokit 5s.

Hm, I alos swapped left and right on head phones, and still, the first hole appears on left, the second on the right… :{ I guess I cannot blamecore audio

No! I swapped sides on headphones, also the stereo effect swaps, so must be in the sound, maybe some strange aliasing thing.

Shit, I used to hear bats a few year ago (no fake, not their sonar but their calls, like ultrahigh whines), and tested up to 17khz like 2 years ago, not I can only hear up to 15? Can ears degrade that quick? Equipment is musician grade soundcard+headamp+headphones, and hearing also stops in the “renoise poor man’s hearing test” for me (empty sample, dc offset, ringmod, tap your keyboard, now can you hear the frequency set in the ringmod?).

This sucks. At least now I know where to put that lowpass filter with cutoff 15khz on the master channel.

Huh, seems I can still hear higher freqs (with holes from 15khz on, and often faint), when I put my soundcard into 96khz mode and use a test tone gen plugin hooked “directly” into the soundcard without mixing and other crap in between?

I still hear bats, maybe our bats have a lower frequency sound?

Above 16 khz I can hear something, but it’s like the sound of nothing. There’s a definite high pitched pressure there but it’s not really much of anything, but I think that’s kind of normal? Like, that’s just what sounds that high pitched sound like.

Around 18 khz I can’t tell anything is there at all, even when A/B-ing it with silence. Pretty sharp cutoff, one second it’s there for me the next it’s not.

19 kHz on krkrp5 monitors, 18kHz on akg240 headphones

very interesting to hear some peaks and troughs along the way

Pretty cool…

I just about made it to 5Hz and I’m seven

Around 15.2kHz, 36yo. Thought I’d do worse, pretty sure I damaged my hearing in my early 20s.
