Just like me. Glad to see some more Synthwave in this forum.
I’ve listened to all your tracks on Soundcloud and they’re all very fluffy. You’re playing a lot with melodies and chords. All your songs are very soft but well executed. I especially appreciate “Hometown Memories”, it sounds so 80s, it has a cool vibe and I like all its melodies. My second favorite is “Overtaking”, that’s your most outrun like song. And to be honest, I like them more than your two new songs. Your two new songs are also well executed, but it’s not my personal taste (I also wouldn’t call “Slow Down” Synthwave). Personally I prefer more energy and/or driving beats. I will spread your tracks in another forum if you don’t mind.
Not to forget to mention that I agree with stoiximan, in this case some vocals would bring some more life and variety to your tracks. But they’re also good without it, no doubt. They’re just very, very soft.
It’s good so far, but I miss the kick. I can’t hear it through pc speakers and a subwoofer. I will relisten to it at home through headphones.
Inspired by the early works of Mouse on Mars? Sounds good!
Thank you very much for such a detailed feedback . Hometown Memories is my favourite track too. It is dedicated to the “Hometown” racing track from the NFS3 game.
Feel free to share songs anywere. I will only be grateful
This is a live-set I did two years ago that I still feel really good about (although I was the very first act to play at the event, and the only four audience members were the two acts after me, a friend of them and my partner – all of the songs on that soundcloud, as well as on my main profile Stream jomikkel music | Listen to songs, albums, playlists for free on SoundCloud is made entirely in renoise (except for collabs, where I improvise/work in renoise, wheras my colleagues use other gear).
I make quirky, sometimes sympohic, often a bit noisy, always messy/eclectic electronic music with emphasis on improvisation and atmospheres (and many live gigs, at least the ones I do in collaboration with others, are mostly improvised). Trying to make danceable stuff, but mostly end up with songs that are a little too strange and too messy/unfocused/varied. No formal music education, not really focused enough to utilise all the amazing features of renoise, but have been making music with it since maybe 2007? Haha, wow, time flies!!!
Started using renoise because I reeeeeallly loved the artist binaerpilot, who has made a lot of their music using trackers, and recommended renoise on a dedicated binaerpilot-fan-forum that I frequented.
Use quite a few freeware VST’s and effects, (destroyFX and MDA among the most heavily used ones). And for years and years I’ve come back to my old garageband sample pack (expanded ofc with a lot of other samples) and the old ones that are free on backstage, that I bend and tweak and with native (to renoise and mac) and downloaded effects.
