Now let’s see where this goes ![]()
We can now built (not us the AI) any app to fit our needs !!! Made an Ableton Clone that runs on Linux a few days ago
.
What we still need is better Renoise Tool API integration with toolwindow possibilitys like dock/undock in renoise main pagecontrol, resizing possibilitys and so on.
happy tracking ![]()
Yes please, now that AI tooling has taken off for coding n00bs
to ‘create’, design their interests, we’re limited with what the api allows (not everyone want to build their own daw, but work with what is already familiar).
Could you let us know exactly what you fed Claude to(not your prompt for your tool) to prep it to spot out complete xnrx like this?
Was is simply the Renoise scripting repository on GitHub and then a prompt or was there some other initial setup? ![]()

I built a Claude Code template for Renoise Lua Tools if anyone wants to give it a try, i’d love some feedback, pull requests to improve it.
See:
Yes, it has a lot of tooling which is meant to improve the workflow and the quality of the code, but you don’t have to be a developer to use it. Just follow the 4 steps in the post (and use Claude Code… which isn’t the same as just Claude)
Thanks I’m on it right now ![]()
Thanks a bunch
Over here I don’t use Claude Code, but the app on my phone (for at work prompting ;)) and the browser / Claude website. When you start a new project you can supply context. Which are files it takes into consideration, can become an expert of. In the case of Renoise I put in the extracted definitions-master folder which zip file can be downloaded here;
Then after you give it instruction, its role and what you want to achieve. It’ll build the .xrnx straight into its answers.
yeah the figuring out part (& future figuring out parts; having to access the web costing you tokens) is circumvented when it is part of its core (I think?). I used to feed it site’s as well, but once you start burning through your token limit, you need to ask smarter. The Claude projects over time also become heavier, so every time you ask a question, the whole chat history is taken into account, it will build test suites and run your prompts through it while this might not always be handy + costly. At that point you just need to feed your .xrnx in a new project or set up the constraints more tightly, so it knows when to dig deep and when not. This all depends on what kind of tool you’re building as well, small vs big. In practice I use the free gemini / chatgpt sites to first design the tool, set up the best prompt as possible, then feed it into Claude to save tokens.
Honestly, I’m thinking about cracking Renoise and writing a patch for its audio engine—so that, finally, it would be possible to build custom instruments in Renoise based on a oscillator.
AFAIK that is not allowed, if I remember the EULA correctly.
Edit: License Agreement | Renoise paragraph 6
Last night, I immediately subscribed to Claude code and I definitely uploaded the master XNRX from the GitHub. I was already used to doing that from working with the Renoise scripting assistant in ChatGPT. And yeah, accessing the web uses up tokens like crazy and I use Extra mode ALOT.
I also uploaded Reslop, and a lot of handy unfinished projects as well as reference files and things like that. My little trick was to use another Claude chat to come up with a prompt. After explaining exactly what I wanted to do it really helps to let the AI “talk to itself”
I’ve been nonstop working since last night. It’s super fun and it actually spits out decent stuff. Still working though, as it’s really easy to continue to add things to it I actually have a pretty massive build right now.
This is for my own personal use. I have absolutely no plans to distribute it. It’s just that there are certain tools I find myself needing, and I’ve long since given up hope that the developer will ever provide them.
Same here. I wouldn’t be able to distribute my tool either. I’ve been absorbing my favorite parts of other tools and adding my own ideas so it’s for personal use only. I do use the server because Claude can test way faster than I can. I can confirm it’s definitely legit.
I’m definitely cuck coding though ![]()

Looks like a cross between Bitwig and Maschine. Nice
Finally dreams come true! ![]()
