M-audio Firewire Audiophile Trouble With Pcmcia:-(

Hola! I am very happy with Renoise, but i have a question: I have a M-audio firewire audiophile soundcard, an PCMCIA adaptor(since my computer doesn’t originally have firewire) and an HP pavillion 4500 laptop(AMD processor) and Windows Xp sp 2 with direct X 9.0. Renoise works fully with the in-buildt soundcard, but i can’t get it working with the M-audio:-( If i select the M-audio ASIO driver everything stops for a while, there are no sounds whatsoever and you can’t do any editing.) The very same soundcard is functioning with other audio-software, but it just doesn’t get friends with renoise… Does anyone know what do do about that?

I read on the other topic something about PCMCIA not being able to supply sufficient power for external units on firewire or at least that 6 pinned firewire

You might try to disable the internal soundcard through the BIOS if possible (they sometimes also interfere resource-wise) or see which drivers to use…
Bantai had lots of problems with the Audiophile firewire edition of the soundcard:

There is a list of compatible devices the soundcard works with:

Also the M-audio guys reported that the audiocard has the least problems if your machine has a VIA or Texas Instruments chipset.

All these things set quite some limitations for your soundcard and i think Bantai can confirm this.

I’ve moved the particular topic from the dev-area to here:

You should be able to view all investigations so far.
