New Tool (2.8, 3.0): Renoise Freesound Integration

Do you have plans of updating the GitHub repo? :)

repo have latest commit, readme is not updated ;)

Looks like an awesome plugin ā€“ looking forward to testing it. But after reading this thread, I have one thought: Renoise is able to play audio files itself quite brilliantly. After all, thatā€™s one of its core functionalities. So I wonder why you need an external tool to be able to play audio? There must be some API available in Renoise that you can use in Lua to play audio! Iā€™m sure someone on these forums know how to do it? :)

i think the tool is there to just make downloading and loading into renoise more convenient

Sure, but if you donā€™t know how the samples sound, how do you know which sample to load? ;)/>

Aa for my knowlage, such function isnt available at the moment. I checked API ref after 3.0 release and still didnt find anything that could be useful.

Iā€™d love to check this out but Iā€™m getting the same as the previously posted error.

you have same error on every sample or on one specific?</...resources></...ts></...ts></...ts></...ts>

Having the same issue. Can not get the Preview function to work. If you are having any success on OS X 10.9, let us know how!

same problem here. :(

Still nobody who has successfully achieved working previews on OS X 10.9?

bump!

Double bump!

it would be ultra awesomo if preview would play internally, every time vlc popup is a bit of struggle and if asio4all is kickin then no audio preview at all

Thatā€™s what Iā€™m saying too. I find it crazy that Renoise doesnā€™t have an API to play sounds through Lua. :D

Has anyone figured out a combination of apps and commands that allow this tool to preview sounds on OS X 10.9?

Is there a difference between playback and download talking about time it takes?
Does playback plays file while downloading it?
If yes and downloading file plus playing it inside the renoise is much slower something should be done because on mac os 10.6.8 you cant select any player for previewing so this function is basicaly disabled.
Otherwise, absolutely great and inspirational tool.

Hello, this is such a great tool. Thanks for all your hard work Itā€™s such a great idea. I imagine in the distant future a lot of DAWs will include an online sample library. I know thereā€™s been some trouble with playback, but it looks like some of you have managed to get it working on your machines so Iā€™m hoping someone can help me. Iā€™m on a mac running mavericks, Iā€™ve got VLC but whenever I try to assign it as the playback app, it wonā€™t let me. all the apps in the list are faded and not able to be selected. Any ideas? Do I need to permit renoise to use VLC somehow?

The preview button is working, but I get an error when trying to download anything. Where exactly am I supposed to create the download folder on Vista 32? The original post info isnā€™t making much sense to me.

Edit: Nevermind this post, after trying about 5 different versions of this tool I finally have it working.

Bumpā€¦?
