As you can see, there is no numeric keypad, and there is no dedicated ‘<’ key - this symbol is created by pressing shift + comma. Piano Roll Editor sees this as just that: shift + comma, so won’t close when I press that combination.
If it is too much work to change any of the keybindings then I can use AutoHotKey as a workaround for not having a numeric keypad, or I could plug in an external keyboard. I haven’t been able to emulate the ‘<’ button yet using AutoHotKey, and my external keyboard is a UK keyboard without a dedicated ‘<’ button.
You also have the option of using mouse macros. You can execute the desired keyboard command with a macro or several. It is very practical with multi-button mouse.
However, it is difficult to achieve maximum compatibility with all USB keyboards, because the tool has many keyboard commands.
@darnellisatwork, of course! For the moment, you must use the Renoise 3.2.0/3.2.1/3.2.2/3.2.4/3.3.0 64bit. PRE8 is not compatible with older versions of Renoise.
Just for clarification, PRE 8.3 is fully compatible with Renoise 3.3. As the Renoise API will not change substantially in the future, PRE will continue to be supported without any problem.
Is there maybe a chance u could add another slider to the piano roll editor. Whe have volume delay and panning would be nice to get one for a gate value aswell. Idk if this would be possible ?
So u would have a slider and if u use it it inputs a cX in the volume bar.
I would enter the parameter in the effects column. Adding an additional slider for just one parameter (Cx) wouldn’t make much sense.
What is possible is to add a switch in the preferences panel for the volume slider bar to enter the additional parameters, which are 10 (160 new values): Ix, Ox, Ux, Dx…
The same for the panning slider bar. That is, the same bar would serve for 2 options.
Hello, i’m using Renoise 3.3.1 and the demo version of PRE 8.3 build 32 on a macOSx
I can’t insert notes neither with mouse or keyboard.
It is a limitation of the demo?

Piano Roll Editor 8.4 includes some corrections and improvements. Although it is a minor update, it is just as important as the others. The User Guide has also updated.
Most improvements are related to the new API 6.1. All code has been updated, so it is fully compatible with API 6.1, which is included from Renoise 3.3.0 onwards.
Besides some minor details improved or added, and due to the demand of some users, this new version includes the compatibility of Chord Builder with the alphanumeric keyboard. Now the alphanumeric keyboard can be linked to the superior mirror piano, which is linked to the Chord Builder. In this way, it is possible to trigger chords from a single keyboard key, while also playing with the octave shift with [/] [*].
Please, if in doubt, take a look at the user guide. There are many details there.
This new version 8.4.325 of PRE is still compatible with the new version 3.3.0/3.3.1/3.3.2 of Renoise. PRE will remain compatible for the next version R3.4, which all of us are waiting for. Like myself usually use this tool, I have intention to hold it for long…

Piano Roll Editor 8.5 is a minor update, but just as important. The main addition is the automatic detection of new MIDI devices to set the velocity sensitivity. This detects when any device is disconnected or reconnected.
On the other hand, the limitation of previous versions of up to 8 devices has been removed. Some users can use a large number of MIDI devices, so with the new version all MIDI devices will be detected and it will be possible to select any of them.
Many thanks to some users for suggesting new features for the PRE! Some updates include all of these requests.

As the user manual indicates, the first step for input the notes is to ensure that the Renoise OSC is enabled and correctly linked with the PRE tool:
Go to Renoise: Edit / Preferences / OSC and check the box “Enable Server” (Udp, 8000).
Go to the Piano Roll Editor, Preferences/ Open Sound Control (OSC), and make sure to use the same “8000” port.
Unfortunately the server was up and running already. That is what confused me. It has worked in the past it just started doing this out of nowhere. I already reinstalled it aswell.
There may be a problem with the “server” itself, which depends on the operating system. In rare cases the server may stop working. If you restart the operating system it should work again.
Another solution is to change the port. If this ever happens to you, try port 8001 in Renoise and in the tool, or any other number. Remember that you have to change it in both, inside Renoise and inside the PRE.
