OSX Catalina: “Renoise_Redux.vst” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified

How can I get past this error in OSX? I tried clicking ‘Open Anyway’ in Preferences -> Security & Privacy. But it is not an app. It is a VST. Clicking that button doesn’t seem to do anything and the VST still can’t be loaded.

Then disable gatekeeper and allow unidentified developers:

Unfortunately it will take a longer while until we can resolve this issue with Catalina, because our copy protection scheme is currently making it impossible to “notarize” applications.

Another workaround is allowing the component after loading in the apple system prefs. Here’s a little movie showing how that works with Logic:

You can temporarily disable gatekeeper as well to pass scanning in hosts:
