OSX: Renoise does not start anymore

Mac OS X 10.9.5 (Mavericks)

Renoise 3.1.0 (Latest stable)

Renoise has been running fine since the first install. Now it fails to load. The splash screen appears for a second then disappears. Nothing in the activity log.

Recent installs:

Bitwig Studio

Liquid Rhythm (Uninstalled using their instructions)

Two errors are generated in the log:

5/4/16 7:41:00.708 AM Renoise[1935]: Error loading /Applications/AutomapServer.app/Contents/Resources/AutomapServerEngine.bundle/Contents/MacOS/AutomapServerEngine: dlopen(/Applications/AutomapServer.app/Contents/Resources/AutomapServerEngine.bundle/Contents/MacOS/AutomapServerEngine, 262): no suitable image found. Did find:

/Applications/AutomapServer.app/Contents/Resources/AutomapServerEngine.bundle/Contents/MacOS/AutomapServerEngine: mach-o, but wrong architecture

Any help appreciated.

Might be worth attaching your entire Renoise log file to a post Greg because there might be crash log stack trace information and what architecture (32 or 64 bit Renoise) that could help see what any AudioUnits/VSTs are up to. That error message seems similar to -> https://forum.renoise.com/t/osx-mavericks-audiounit-editors-do-crash/39442 from 2013 with Renoise 2.8

I snapped the screen while Renoise was loading. The splash screen shows “Reading the plugin caches…” then drops out.

Here is a Dropbox link to the entire Renoise log…

According to the log you had a successful load about 76 days ago (just under 11 weeks), then trouble started 2 days ago. Very very tall order but you have to think what was installed (including BitWig etc…) and what you could’ve done in that time frame to upset Renoise (I know, it is easier said than done! )

The other thing to try (although a long shot and I have no idea where the files are stored in what directory on the Mac version), is to find the files with names like: ‘CachedFailedVSTs.db’ (usually sitting along with the config.xml file) and move those .db files to a temporary place on your HD. Then run Renoise. It forces Renoise to rebuild its cache of VSTs/AUs, and see if that helps Renoise in any way. It may not, but it might be worth a try
