Realtime audio-to-MIDI with Renoise (MidiGuitar2 & Dodo MIDI2)

Happy this year everybody!

Has anyone gotten Jam Origin’s MidiGuitar2 vst-plugin to work with Renoise?

I have tried putting native line-input vst and MidiGuitar to sampler FX-chain and tried forwarding MIDI to other VST plugin via LoopBe internal adapter but cannot get it to work.

I also tried putting those to track01 and creating VST-alias but no luck.

In both cases the plugin sees the notes played on the guitar, but no events are shown in the renoise’s MIDI-monitor.

In Ableton I can get it to work by putting Midiguitar vst to audio track and setting MIDI-input of desired VST-instrument to match that audio track.

I would be grateful to hear if anyone has any experience with this topic.

I also tried Dodo MIDI 2 which worked quite well in Ableton 12.

I couldn’t get it to work in the Renoise either, despite trying hard…

Am I trying the impossible? Has anyone got realtime audio to MIDI work with Renoise?

I think you might be out of luck if you’re looking for an internal solution:

You would probably have to run MidiGuitar or DODO MIDI2 externally and route the midi output to renoise somehow.

Yeah, it seems so.

I think I just have to believe it after several hours of banging my head to the wall by trying to make it work. :smiling_face_with_tear:
