⮚ Renoise 3.5 and Redux 1.4 Released

every other plug in i’ve ever installed for the last 30 years is a file that is compiled… not a folder. shrug.

edit: yeah… i guess so. dragged them in and they show up fine… as they should.

Most VST3s are folder bundles, which are shown as files via a desktop.ini file in bundle for Windows explorer. This is just cosmetics and doesn’t affect its functionality.

To enable those desktop.ini files, some special window file attributes must be set.
As the Renoise backstage is a Linux machine, it can’t set those magic Windows attributes, so it will be visible as a folder.

yeah… it’s weird. usually MacOS/Logic is so picky about file types being a certain way but doesn’t seem to care about these being folders vs .component/.vst3

so, all well and good. on w/the update explorations.

Great work! Redux MIDI Out does not work for AU component (at least on ableton live). But VST3 works great.

Great update guys thanks!!!

Super nice!

Very great, a new release!

Pretty good rewards testing this for now. Finally parallel processing without send channel spaghetti routing. Mid/Side processing, wow. This will make work a lot better, with native dry/wet for any effect. Then the scales are also a nice feature for those using native effects.

Most astonished I am by the lua api upgrades, this looks like a lot of much better tools will be able to be released, and like the tools will run a lot faster, as well? Great stuff, finally it runs LuaJIT… And some blank spots in the API have been resolved.

Also the performance upgrades, seem to depend on song, even with renoise native. Some with few voices and much DSP processing won’t gain much, but songs using many native sample instruments can gain a lot, like I got one tune going from 45-50 down to around 35% CPU.

Nice update, seems like easily refining renoise to a much more usable shape with few additions. Keep this going, I’ll be using the new features right away & try not to look back.

Nice to see some new features, looking forward to having a playaround. Thanks to all the peeps that have brought us v3.5.0…!! :?)

Edit: big shout out to ’ Xenobaba’, for the granular and wavetable ‘template’ instruments. Have watched a good few of you’re tutorial video’s…!!!

I’m very happy that Renoise is still in active development. I’ve been an active user since 3.3.2 (yeah not too long ago, around 2021). But since then, it has been my main go-to daw to get stuff done. Very eager to give the new version a go really soon. Devs, thanks for all you do! :innocent:
All the best and looking forward to more in the near future.

I spent the last hour playing with the phrase-script-editor and flew to generative universes.

Absolutely amazing, renoise-team!

I have a question and Im not sure how to do it properly yet, but if i morph between tunings on the mts master will that warp my tuning in real time inside renoise too? (to the connected instruments)

It seems to me that it only picks up tuning at note-on currently.

For those that don’t already have all the scala files, here’s a link with over 5000 scales to choose from

I’m so happy

Had been on a job for the last 4 months that gave me no time to renoise at all. Now that I am finally done and have time again - new version comes out.
thank you Renoise team for this huge surprise.
