⮚ Renoise 3.5 and Redux 1.4 Released

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO :sob:

thanks for fixing the fullscreen mode for newer Macs. I got used to not working on fullscreen in 3.4, but now the fixed fullscreen makes working in renoise so much more comfortable for me.

The microtonal support is something that I didn’t realize how much I need until you guys added it. Also the notepad tool might be boring, but it’s a much appreciated little feature!
Also, I already preferred the renoise mixer over the Ableton mixer window, but now it’s even better with the inclusion of RMS.

Overall, I can’t express how happy I am with the new version - it seems like the team has payed great attention to the user needs, workflow and preferences.

its well worth the price for 15 years!
I am also eternally grateful to Renoise for charging a humble one time fee, instead of a subscription based model or a hefty price like any other software developer would do. It’s honestly refreshing to see a community centered developer that is not consumed by corporate greed! I am very happy that I payed for my renoise license

Had to add pinned comments to loads of the official videos, cos so many existing features got notable additions. Some of them should definitely get remade now. :drummer:

Thank you so much for this awesome work!

I am especially excited to see what tool developers can do with the new features, like Canvas!

Awesome release! The TidalCycles inspired patterns in phrases are great, so much to explore.

Yay! First time I installed a Renoise update, and all my config was immediately available. Normally I needed to set al my directories and stuff. Probably my bad. But anyway, feels good! Thanks guys for all the effort and time, really appreciate it!

Nice, thanks for the update. Instrument automation now shows VST3 plugin parameters by name, which is nice. I first thought you messed up the instrument list by showing the waveforms of samples, but you managed to implement the ability to switch between several “looks”. Well done! :+1:

That was the first thing I’ve noticed. My first impression: Thin and condensed, much harder to read. But I assume I’ll get used to it over time. Here’s a comparison (old font on the left, new font on the right) with a value of 2 regarding V spacing and H spacing:

Still a steal. Why not 100 €? I would say 120 € would be appropriate. It’s worth it!

My first version was Renoise 2.7.2 and it’s already been 14 years now. Who knows when v3.7 will be released. It could take another 5-6 years easily, right?

What am I missing? What’s new in terms of parallel processing except M/S processing by EQ?

Even after deinstalling everything related to Renoise, all my settings are always still there after reinstalling Renoise. My template, my themes, literally everything. Never had to readjust anything. It’s magic!

Bummer :frowning:
Btw there are ways to bypass the online account, telemetry and all of that
Just takes time and a bit of trial and error (esp if you’re a beginner)

hah! Just noticed this. Cool!

@TNT the above seems like an in-line splitter so you can have clean/effected in the same track, then effect the summed output, at least thats my read of it. Been mega busy with family stuff and havent checked it out yet, so i could be wrong.

thank you so much!

So glad this project is not dead!

i found the new font pretty difficult to get used to, and i assume there’s a lot of you out there who feel the same.

so if you’re looking to get it back, navigate to “C:\Program Files\Renoise 3.5.0\Resources\Skin\Fonts”, create a copy of “DejaVuSansMono.ttf” and rename it to “FiraCode-Regular.ttf”, overwriting the existing file. (see img attacted)

all in all, great update ^_^, but i just can’t get behind the font change :-/

Check the comment in Resources/Skin/Fonts/PatternConfig.xml. There’s now a less hacky way to customize fonts without hacking resource files. This is new in RNS 3.5 too - still not really an official feature.

whoops, never bothered to check there @_@

thanks for the heads-up!

This is my second license, I can update up to 4.0 with this one.

Must be quite a long time ago since I started using Renoise then. Probably end 70’s or so.

yeah. First renoise version you had to use punchcards to enter patterns and connect electrodes to the heads of actual musicians. soo much latency…

Can you write a bit about It ??
Thanks

Hell. Yes.

Really excited to dig into pattrns. More than two decades into this adventure and there’s still new ways to play.

Thank you @taktik and all

happy to finally see midi out for redux, though is there not a way to send pitch bend/mod wheel messages? a little disappointed if it only does velocity/note out.
