ah yes, this shows how the honor system works. i forgot to unpause one time for about 10 minutes i think and restarted the timer 15 mins later because i wanted to be on the safe side. this all just goes to show we can trust each other.
and i am happy when people want to respect what i think, Guruh Motha Fakka or no Guruh Motha Fakka. only sad thing is ‘respect’ isn’t the same as ‘agree with’
I think at least at some point a new one is necessary, that keeps things fresh. However, it’d be interesting if unused samples would respawn. So if nobody uses some of the samples in a round, those end up in the pack for the next round along with some new ones to fill it up.
People! I’ve been tracking for 15 minutes now (I really have to go to sleep now so I’ll continue ‘tomorrow’) but I won’t be able to vote because I’m on Dour festival this week
Can this be forgiven or will I be disqualified anyway?
It’s alright by me. Or possibly, we could have the voting period so you have time to get back. If we end on the 18th or 19th or thereabout, that’d be a 5-6 day voting period at most, possibly less.
this is a reasonable compo with reasonable people. if you simply let voting slide, disqualification is your fate. if you give a reason and properly excuse yourself, like td6d did there, this should not be a problem imo.
I’ve just moved house and have been a sea of boxes until recently. I’m sort of set up now so i intend to get on this tonight or tomorrow morning and have something up by tomorrow evening (tomorrow is the deadline right??). I’ve never finished a song in Renoise (or even an original piece of electronic music really!) and I don’t have any midi keyboard/controllers so this will be interesting…but all the more fun!! Here goes nothing…
EDIT: just saw the time in the original post. I’ll get something done by then…
Sorry for my absenteeism the past few days. Just in brief response to the 3 hours tracking issue: It does NOT have to be one single “epic 3 hour session”. The whole point of this compo is that we are now all adults and may not have a lot of free time. Hence why you have a whole week to spend 3 hours on it. 30 minutes one day, 45 minutes the next, etc…
Regarding my own entry, unfortunately I am not sure if I am going to even be able to submit anything. The room where my computer is got flooded with water this past weekend and we spent all weekend cleaning it up. So I haven’t even started tracking anything yet. But I’ll see if I can maybe throw something together.
I started one, but i think i will restart the whole thing if that is ok? Or would i have to delete everything and continue on the last session? I have about 1 hour 21 minutes and 27 seconds left.
I for one just got back into town. I grabbed the sample pack days ago and did the whole thing on the road looking at the clock. I didn’t get the clock plugin installed in time, but like everyone here has been saying, we are all playing by the rules.
I’m getting stoked to hear what everyone put together! Sorry if mine is mixed poorly, my headphones are decent, but definitely not great.
Eh, don’t worry about it. Just declare that due to “technical difficulties” with the “entry submission machinery”, the submission deadline will be postponed by a day . Well, depending on just how flooded the room got, of course.
I think that should be OK to scrap and restart the timer as long as nobody else is opposed to it. Maybe give yourself 2.5 hours since you are already familiar with the samples? Or something like that?
I agree actually, had the basics of my entry in under 30 minutes. I reallllllly hope topicstarter will message people if the mediafire failed or sth. hehe.
yeah i think that’s okay too, and i would indeed honor the honor-system by shaving a little off the 3hrs because of the sample-familiarity.
i messaged to organic io saying kind of the same thing, but with respect to loudness. my songs tend to be the kind where, in the old days, you’d apply a ‘Turn Up The Volume!’ sticker to it because they are always softer than other entries. this goes for other entries as well and organic io will probably make mention of this point once the voting starts, so people don’t judge a song by its loudness.
i can assure you that if you indeed turn up the volume it will sound pretty awesome
Ok, i’ll cut about 30 mins on my tracking time, that gives me about 25 minutes left now.
I only used tre samples and no percussion on the first session though, and i started one yesterday that is something completely different, drum based thingy.
The first session: No weed, sounds no good.
Next session: Lots of killer weed, sounds quite allright.
Edit: 2 and a half hour spent. Submitted. It’s far from finished, but an ok start, maybe something i’ll edit later.
