Is there a way to get renoise play mod song files correctly? I tried several songs, but most of them have different issues. Sample looping is clicking, pitch glide sounds different, sometimes samples are played too quiet and so on. Maybe its needed to convert mod files to a more stable file format, which renoise can handle without issues?
Maybe turning on the Amiga/FT2 compatibility mode will help? You find it in the song menu.
Hm wasn’t there already a big difference between soundtracker and protracker modules regarding pitch glides and loop points? Maybe you first need to convert the mod to a more recent version? Just a guess.

This will be set automatically, when you load it directly in renoise. Strange thing is, that one of a song ive tested need pitchmode renoise to get sound correctly.
@Jurek: Could be possible, but convert with what application? Any suggestion i could try?
If you’re only interested in accurate loading and playback for listening purposes, then you’ll have much better luck with something like XMPlay or Open ModPlug Tracker, both of which support a lot more “classic” module formats than Renoise.
If you’re interested in remixing/reworking old MODs in Renoise, then you might consider using ModPlug to convert them to XM or IT instead, which Renoise has a much easier time importing (though they still may not be 100% perfect).
Ah ok thx. Its mainly for accurate playback and maybe learn some new things from it.
Edit: Ok, doesn’t help much. Seems renoise have some missing commands(position jump) and handles sample volumeand tempo changes quite differently. Tried someHoffmanmodules (krunk.d, …).
Renoise actually doesn’t support original MOD portamento behavior that is based to the Amiga frequency table.
XM and newer module support linear frequency, so as suggested try to work on XM instead.
EDIT
It would be a cool feature if Renoise would add support forthis when using old engine

i used milky tracker to pre-convert and it seems that even ancient soundtracker 1.0 modules are played almost accurate with this way:

Besides this, the paula chip had much more mechanisms inside than just a low pass filter to prevent aliasing.
Actually, except for the different portamento behavior (but this affects only the mod), the renoise old engine is good enough either for mod and xm
