My friend and I have recently started a rapping side project. More or less it’s just for fun but we do want to perform at some of the local venues. Thus far, I have made two really interesting hiphop beats in Renoise. They’re definately not your average run of the mill hiphop and lyrically we want to rap about something interesting. What I mean is we’ll rap about pokemon or kerouac over bitches and money anyday. All I was wondering was are any of you rapping over Renoise tracks.
I know Vivace (botb) did some dutch rappin’ on some of his Polderdub EP tracks (c’mon vivace, bring da linkz!) 
and also - i remember this cool finnish hip hip track “Vara Ninja”, if i’m not mistaken that was a project of dfast.

I totally agree that MPC’s are way too overpriced. And I’m totally surprised that more people don’t use Renoise for, not just hip hop, but for all styles. Renoise is simply just a great piece of software and it always seems to be so underrated. I don’t really think that it’s like an MPC but I do think that both could be used for great hip hop.
Rotterdam straatpiraat represent!! I like to play with my language and use that to make lyrics. Lexicon is your friend It’s all Dutch because of that though, and because I find my pronounciation unconvincing.

Naaah , once in a while you wanna shut that computer down ( unless your only soundsources are software based ) and switch to mpc ( or whatever hardware seq.)
Thing is with hardware seq. …It’s the perfect medium for creating the backbone ( and all the rest ) of your composition , it’s there without looking at a (♪♪ goddamn ) screen ,not getting anal about automation and stuff … the majority of renoisers are pure software based and that’s o.K. …but at least you should try a hard ware seq . once in your life …like drinking ‘everclear’.
The biggest difference to an MPC is that an MPC is all about laying down beats by actually playing them, while Renoise is all about programming them (actually, it is not even possible to record beats into different tracks in Renoise, when playing them live!).
