Maybe I use the word Hub in a wrong way. I thought a Hub was any of the root-usb connectors on my motherboard, I didn’t know that the usb ports attached directly to the motherboard, not via a cable, were better.
Anywaytjes, I tested the Virus on all usb ports on my motherboard, but the pci interface turns out to be best.
Please note that I tested the Viruscontrol plugin on Cubase 5 and Reaper and it works perfectly, also without the pci interface. I heard it also works fine with Fruity Loops.
As previously said in this topic: We were in contact with them, but they stopped supporting Renoise “officially” at the end, could not fix the issue on their side.
Because they can’t fix this in the virus, we’ve made another change in Renoise, which hopefully adds better support for the virus in future releases. Future releases is NOT 2.5 final, but 2.6 or later. The change is too big and to critical to be added right now… Sorry, thats all I can do here.
What are your audiocards buffersettings? Did you tweak anything in Renoise?
When I trigger an arp by midi over usb it’s much tighter then via the VirusControl plugin. The Viruscontrol just don’t feels right, I constantly hear that it can go out of sync anytime, and most of the time it does after a couple of starts and stops.
Like I said in a post above, I’m not gonna try the plugin anymore, it costs me hours and hours without making music. I’m gonna use midi over usb and use the plugin for patch management if needed.
For audio I use a Motu 828MK2 with ‘relaxed’ settings (1024 samples @ 44.1KHz, because my PC is rather old). I have not tweaked anything in Renoise.
Playing the Virus over USB MIDI gives a more direct response when playing on the keyboard (with VC there is an annoying delay while playing live). When playing a sequence, everything stays in sync. I mostly use hardware- and VST synths and I barely use samples (ok, for drums now and then).
Using MIDI is a good work-around (I also used this method prior to TIOS3.x and Renoise 2). However, using VC also enables you to use VST effects over the Virus.
After I updated my studio PC to renoise 2.5 I can’t find the Virus TI VSTi anymore.
It only lists the Virus TI Snow.
Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?
Did you tried rescanning your plugins?
Did you tried rescanning previously failed plugins?
Did you tried renaming or wiping the Renoise plugin database (CachedVSTs.db) and then rescan everything?
If songs can load it, it must be somewhere. Did they probably changed the name of the plugin or have you disabled it manually in Renoise? Try right clicking in the plugin list in Renoise, select “Show Hidden Plugins”. Also try to search for other names than “virus”?
I’ve updated to Renoise 2.5 and TOS 4.0, the plugins for both the ti and the ti snow are listed like they did with older versions. The Viruscontrol plugin also sucks with Renoise like I’m used too, so no differences in that iether.
After doing all discribed above didn’t help.
I now Reinstalled Renoise completely including the application data content and it was a success!
Finally it’s listed again!
None of the team-members has a Virus, so there is no testing done on this area. But if you mention how the Virus is controlled through MIDI, perhaps we can give you a little guidance to get on your way.
AFAIK the virus is partially controlled through MIDI and partially through a plugin. I hope all controls are allowed through MIDI and not the plugin.
