Buzz WAS great. Now it’s mediocre. ReNoise WAS okay. NOW it’s great.
Buze is quite nice, though. It’s semi modular/customizable interface is quite cool.
I say if you try them both, use the one or both that you like. Asking other people what they use is kind of pointless. Each person uses what they like and are comfortable with. Their tastes aren’t yours.
However, the one thing I think helps decide whether you like a program IS the community and information available to you and ReNoise definitely has the upper hand in that arena. I feel like a lot of Buzz users are a bit…elitist to be quite honest. That’s not to say all of them are like that, but quite a few that I’ve run into were a bit snooty.
As far as Buzztard…is that the same as Aldrin? I used Aldrin quite a bit and was involved with bugtesting it for a while. Aldrin’s main draw for me was the fact it is on Linux and is intended to be a standalone. In other words, it has the most versitile synths out of the Buzz library that are fixed up to be rock solid and the weird meta devices that people made and hacks that came along were built into Aldrin so that you essentially had a Reason-type program with a Buzz interface. Keeping plug ins out means if you get rid of all the bugs, you never have to worry about new ones cropping up with new, badly programmed plugs. For what was in it while I was using it, it was more than ready to pound out complex and solid music. And it was Linux (I was using it before ReNoise jumped over to the dark side of the PC).
At any rate, if you got nothing from this post except one thing, let it be this:
btw. its theme-able, so many buzz-users made awesome themes for it.
just to show how it can look now.
i hope its ok to show a beautiful skin made by Limeflavour.
Double click rewirelink to get properties window. Here you can set up what channels that rewirelink recieves from renoise.
If you want to recieve individual tracks from renoise, you need to set output channel from renoise mixer too. By default you’ll get just master. Every separate channel requires new rewirelink machine in buzz.
