Just the first 40 seconds:
#Moviescore
I think this can be considered Electro more or less, although not classical Detroit-Electro:
Tomorrow I’ll work on Speakers (was done with Headphones until now) and I will try to get the mix better.
Rather simple project in SunVox. All sounds are SunVox except of the snare which is a sample.
Reminds me of Max Richter. and it almost sounds live. Is there some additional reverb / room on the master or is this the sound of the samples?
Wow, Max Richter is a legend, thank you.
In fact, it was played live and not quantized at all. There’s no reverb on the master channel but I used the builtin reverb of bbc orchestra vst.
Got inspired by early nineties gabber/speedcore,in particular the fischkopf label, started making this track, its a fun one, usual odd rhythms, all sounds processed through an amiga + dat machine.
I uploaded the final version of the track some weeks ago. Thats why the link is removed.
But I regret a bit that I released a short version.
The original idea was much longer…
Should I have released the long original version instead?
Please select one of the following options:
Fischkopf! Do you plan to add some (aggressive) vocals, too? I never liked Gabber, but this one wasn’t bad. The result could be intersting. Gabber in ToybOx style (which means odd rhythms). How do you call your style? You’re the only one I know who’s producing odd rhythms in hardcore style.
I don’t remember the short version, but your very long songs tend to be basically two songs in one.
Therefore I’d choose option 7 (split the song).
I just subscribed for the free 30 days of musio.
This is what I came up the last 10 minutes
Another (old school) electro track I made with SunVox. It’s very simple, but this is exactly what I like. It also was finished in a few hours only:
Do you remember this? I left this one for almost one year untouched on my drive. Now it’s almost done, even though the result is “a little” different as originally planned. At least I’ve learned that composing riffs with Amplesound is a pita and the transfer to the pattern editor of Renoise seemingly doesn’t work right. So no guitar solo in this one, instead it goes straight in your face composing-wise. What do you think? Too repetitive or just the right amount of aggression? I’m still thinking about a “lead solo” or however you wanna call it at 2:02. On the other hand it’s not too bad already. I’m not looking for playful melodies in this one, this is intended to be music for workouts and speeding.
Sounds great.
Lead solo around the three minute mark would be cool, sort of give it more of a a stage feel.
I think the arrangement is great and I wouldn´t change anything. Soundwise I find that arp that starts directly at the beginning a bit too loud and possibly having too much mid range relative to the volume of the guitars.
In general I also would somewhat lower the mid range at ~1-2 KHz.
The mix isn’t 100% finished yet. Not only the first “arp” needs to be adjusted, the second one needs to be “low passed” a little more. The volume of the second guitar needs to be increased whereas the volume of the synth that’s playing the same melody in parallel needs to be decreased. In other words, there’s some finetuning left to do. And there’s a decision to be made in terms of the possible short “lead solo” at 2:02. On one hand I’ve got the impression that maybe I should fill some gaps from 2:02 to 2:26, on the other hand bringing a new instrument for not even half a minute would possibly be too much. Maybe I could use the synth that’s playing the same melody as the second guitar for that matter, in fact it’s a “guitarish” lead that I’ve made from scratch and it was originally intended to be the “main lead” (like a lead guitar). I’ll have to think about it again and do some tests. It’s a 50:50 thing, but in this second I slightly tend to @lilith 's opinion.
Not sure a lead would fit in well at the 2:02 mark, but rather around 3:00, nearer the song’s end.
The reasoning behind it would be to simulate the ‘band’ playing off of the ‘crowd’ and having
some fun with thier song. Just thinking of the dancer again.
Ok, I see. But this would require a guitar lead if you ask me. And that’s not possible atm. Besides of that I think it wouldn’t fit composition-wise. I was thinking of a “next section” in the song, that would begin with a lead. Kinda like a “solo”, but rather similar like the lead in my recent Synthwave song. Anyway, I’ve asked a couple of dudes about their opinion and literally everybody said it’s good as it is, no lead required. So I will most likely leave it like that. But unfortunately I will have to redo the mix. I’ve listened through my HiFi speakers yesterday and I wasn’t pleased. It sounds good through monitors, headphones and PC speakers, but it HAS TO sound good through HiFi speakers, too.
Yet another Renoise with KORG M1 VST Legacy™ experiment work in progress
Ok, so I changed a lot, especially in terms of volume adjustments and filtering.
This will probably be the final version, at least I hope so.
The old mix for comparison:
Do you know Fire & Ice? I had to think of it when I was listening to your track.
Good work, especially the first half. I also like the second half, but in the second half the atmosphere changes a lot. That’s because the first half has got a “dreamy” and “cloudy” sound character, whereas the sound in the second half becomes quite clear. I would try to keep the character throughout the whole song.
Thanks TNT for the comments
Yes there are som ‘sharp corner’ style changes.
The idea was to variate in surprising styles.
But I agree, the changes are quite complementary to each other.
Inluding some the typical Korg M1 house style
I understand that the mixing must be ok, so I dont have to do more to that.
(Thats normally the most tricky part. On one device it sound ok and on another It drowns)
I was inspired by Moog Cook Book’s rendition of ‘Hotel California’…

TNT: You can easily release that ‘WIP(v2)’
Great groove and everything.
Thank you! I just have listened to it a few times through several outputs and now I’m also pleased, so I just officially uploaded the track on SoundCloud. Let’s see how it goes.
Mono mixing is the “secret” if you ask me. If you’ve got a good mono mix then you’ve got a good foundation in general for every possible output, whether it’s headphones, speakers or monitors, regardless if it’s a mono system or a stereo system.
