This version of Renoise will not open in a future release of macOS

This message just come up on my desktop recently.
System: Tahoe 26.5

I think they will keep support for universal apps until os 27, then it will probably end in os 28. I might just stay on the last one to have Rosetta support

@Leszek what is stopping you from moving to the Apple Silicon version?

I’m pretty sure I downloaded the Silicon version when I upgraded my computer, but I get the message as well. In the download section it’s listed as Intel/Silicon, which means it’s universal, and this kind will not be accepted in about 2-3 years. Please correct me if I’m wrong, I would like to use pure Silicon version if it’s possible, it might eat less battery power.

There is just one version of Renoise to download for macOS.

I think cmd-I on the renoise app and see thay it is not having Rosetta checkbox enabled.

It’s not using Rosetta.

I have recently installed Renoise on my new m5 with the latest version of Tahoe
Rosetta checkbox is empty.

yup, got the notification today too, havent been using rosetta either. maybe someone from dev team could fill us in on what component it is that will no longer be supported in future versions?

It should just work. The warning is misleading.

Renoise is a universal binary: It contains an Intel and an Apple ARM version in one bundle. As soon as Rosetta is gone you definitely won’t be able to use the Intel version of Renoise via Open with Rosetta, but the ARM version should work just fine.

Not sure why Apple now is flagging app bundles that also contain intel slices. I think it’s unlikely that universal binaries fail to load in future, but Apple is known for surprises in this area
