Tutorial In French Version ?

Hello,

In 2009, I answered French people if one can translate the tutorial of Renoise 2 in French version… In 2012, are there renoisers interested for a French version ? If yes, can Renoise Team translate ou find a motived translater ?

This part is the biggest problem.
We had someone in 2008 who convinced us to do it and telling he had enough time, he started converting approx 10 pages and then stopped.
The same more or less happened with the Italian translation.
The policy is currently a bit like this:If someone sets up and shares a national version of the Renoise documentation and keeps it up, we’ll link to this site. It is like we do for the Japanese support, also Sato covers questions for Japanese users, if he really can’t help them out, he posts into the dev forum or on the public forum.

Seeing is believing.

I can translate the manual, but as I have relatively busy days, it will take some time if I do it. Anyways it will be better than nothing.

For this reason it’s a good thing I’m from Canada in which French and English come both as either first or second to almost the whole country ;) lol! I do agree, We do have a lot of French users. This would be helpful to them for sure! Maybe to make matters easier both (ViZiON and RyanE) team up!?! =) You guys would be contributing a lot for this community and I am 100% for the growth of Renoise period. Any help needed just inbox me.

it’s 2012, guys. Really, anyone who is using a PC nowadays should be able to at least read plain english; for me the effort is superflous

Les frenchies, faites comme moi, quand vous ne comprenez pas utilisez simplement Google Translate, c’est largement suffisant.

Yes, but translating the whole manual with Google Translate um… good luck.
And it will make mistakes, humans are better than machines.

Anyone wanting to do a French translation is welcome, but we only believe it if you put up your own manual website and keep it up. The Japanese manual is a good example and gots its own spot in the help link menu of the Renoise home page.

L’an dernier j’avais fait pour mes potes locaux quelques vidéos tutorielles en français, focalisées sur la découverte des effets DSP, compatibles avec la version 2.6.1, que j’ai postées sur dailymotion, puis j’ai arrêté en fin de route pour composer. Elles ne sont pas d’une grande qualité et elles manquent un peu de concision.

I would like to do that but unfortunately I don’t have time to maintain a website. I already have busy days, but I still have time to translate the manual.

@KURTZ: j’ai regardé quelques uns de tes tutoriels et ils ont l’air d’être plutôt bien faits. De plus, même si la version 2.8 a bien évolué par rapport à la 2.6, il n’est pas nécessaire de tout recommencer à zéro. Alors que dirais-tu de faire équipe et de se partager les rôles ?

I started to translate the manuel in french. For the moment it’s just 4 or 5 pages but I expect to finish it in 2-3 months. I will of course share it when it will be done.

(J’ai commencé à traduire le manuel en français. Pour le moment c’est juste 4 ou 5 pages, mais je pense finir dans 2-3 mois. Bien sur, dès que ce sera fini je le partegerai.)

BTW I’ve finished to translate my “Mixing & Mastering Strategies with Renoise” article, available now on my (french) blog here.
This article presents several known renoise native techniques that help you to increase your sound presence without loosing too much dynamic range.

  • sound samples cleaning and normalising within the Sample editor and Instruments settings tab
  • stereo widening (short stereo delays) and multi detuned samples stacked in multiple layers
  • sidechain compression / distorsion with the *Signal Follower
  • parallel multiband compression and auto panning low freqs in the center of the stereo listening field with the *Multiband send device
  • how to manually define usefull limiting parameters (ceiling & boost) with the Maximizer DSP
    …
    It’s far from perfect and still needs to be vastly improved with some .xrns examples and or short video examples… coming soon !

En passant, j’ai fini de traduire en français un ancien article intitulé “Mixage et Masterisation sous Renoise”, initialement disponible en anglais ici.
Cet article vous présente une liste de techniques 100% internes/natives, qui vous aident à augmenter la présence sonore mais sans trop perdre en marge ou profondeur dynamique

  • nettoyer les échantillons et normaliser leur volume au sein de l’éditeur d’échantillon interne et du système d’édition des instruments
  • définir des délais stereophoniques très courts et des instruments basés sur des échantilloons détunés empilés en layers multiples
  • sidechainer la compression ou la distorsion avec le meta-device *Signal follower
  • monter une compression multibande “parallèle” et placer automatiquement les basses fréquences au centre du champ d’écoute stéréophonique avec le device *Multiband send
  • définir manuellement les bons paramètres du DSP *Maximizer (Ceiling et Boost)
    …
    C’est loin d’être parfait et ça a besoin d’être largement amélioré avec des examples de fichiers .xrns à télécharger et des vidéos tutorielles illustratives… Bientôt sur vos écrans!

  • le guide de démarrage rapide
  • les vidéos tutorielles qui vont avec

Tout y est, (ou presque), c’est assez similaire aux originaux, à ceci prêt que c’est en français.

Et en plus, je viens de monter un petit portail au cas où vous auriez envie d’échanger sur le logiciel directement en français.
