oh yeah, screw the mouse, my biggest complaint with the latest update is that we’ve gone a little “fiddly” with the mouse controls
find the new pattern list a serious pain in the arse tbh - is there really no way to do the old left button increases, right button decreases thing? it just takes me a hell of a lot longer to do arrangements now and i don’t understand why they’d change such a simple and effective interface - now it takes dual mouse/keyboard, RSI-inducing action… maybe this is why i’m finding myself arranging more in SX3 at the moment - it’s verging on the side of not being a tracker interface at the moment
it’s great when you work with a sequencer like the QY-700, and you’re 100% buttons - you forget how elaborate and inefficient the mouse interface can be
900 offset’s alright for some breaks, but with any significant tempo changes - i.e. going from 100BPM to 172BPM, subtle, loose timing turns into lazy/skipped notes or missed transients
if you have to get into detailed 900 offset, 09f2 0934 etc… it gets fiddly again… and of course, a lot of the time you need to split the break up so you’ve got control over different envelope and filter settings and things
sometimes a very very slight delay on the snare can make a drum loop sound lazy - and a very, very on time snare - where you’ve got the bassdrum a little late because of its lower frequency attack transient, can make a break sound eager and fast… so you do need wave control over these things really
there is a lot of mouse clicking involved at the moment unfortunately - in fact, SX in this case actually is more efficient because there’s the scissors tool - so cutting up a break into 16 pieces takes 16 mouse clicks
there’s no reason renoise couldn’t do this even better
