What games are you playing ATM?

that’s mental, i spend a day or two at most on my songs.

can you send your bandcamp so i can listen to your tracks please?

I´m currently trying to shift from metal towards dance music now, here is one song from my last album:

The album on bandcamp: Format The System | Brainwash Machine

i like it and think that it sounds like you thought about it a lot, i think it would be really really interesting to hear what you make when you try and work really really fast though.

Thanks, I´m glad you liked it

With help from people here on the forum, I now know better what I´m doing, the next album will be made much faster, maybe over 4 months.

I made this in only 2 days, though I will spend some time to produce it further along with 5 other songs that I will release on the same album:

this sounds pretty good, im listening now.
i prefer it to your other song you sent.

idk what genre it is, but i like it

i ended up listening to the whole thing.

Thanks

I´m not sure about the genre myself. When I began I just wanted to be melodically driven, with long melody progressions, and dance-able. So far I have called it “synthwave, electro, 8-bit”. Mostly because I listened to some synthwave/cyberpunk-artists when I began this project, and because I have roots in 8-bit metal. Also, @TNT showed me some electro that inspired me, including his own stuff.

Now I want to hear your speed-tracking songs

You’re capturing your own gaming thread. :upside_down_face:

That’s at least 208 days straight producing without eating and sleeping. What are you doing in all those hours? Imho it’s best to keep composing in case you’re in the zone and to pause in case you’re struggling getting the desired results, if you’re out of ideas or if you’re simply not in the right mood. And if you ask me it helps not to mix several songs in parallel.

For cheese tactics watch the “Sekiro guru”:

There’s a fast travel feature in Red Dead Redemption, don’t worry. Personally I prefer the horse and check the area while riding. Elden Ring was nice, but unfortunately buggy. It’s the first FromSoftware game in which I experienced bugs. No specific armor, no treasures, no spirit ashes except the basic ones, no further improvement of weapons (if you’re already on a high level and you keep “improving”, the values are going down instead of up) and some NPCs were missing so I couldn’t finish a quest. That’s why it’s the worst Souls game by FromSoftware imho. Besides of that it’s easy in comparison to every other Souls game. Nevertheless I dig the open world. Btw, if you like Dark Souls and you’re up for an asian setting, Nioh and Nioh 2 are highly recommended. :+1:

i was out all day so sorry for the late reply.

most of these where made in a day or less,
i have a song that i worked on for about 3 days or more and is 10 minutes long so if you like my music and want to hear it then just ask me and i will upload it as soon as i see your message

On the days that I work, I count walking, eating and meditating as work hours, even rehearsing for concert and playing them, and listening to the songs. When it comes to tracking most of the time goes to re-write melodies/songs, and earlier I spent much time on arrangements.

The kind of music that I´m making now goes much faster though, less time on arrangements. And I know better how I can use dance rhythms, spent a lot time to figure that out in a way where I could preserve my passion for melodic progression. It was easier before when I worked with prog rock rhythms.

When experimenting a lot, or making song types that I´m not familiar with, it takes a lot of time. Like a ballad that I´m currently have worked every day for 2 weeks on now. The song has been re-written many times.

That might save me  I will look into Nioh, I haven´t played any souls-like yet other than From Software´s, ofc.

Yes, please. I like this, nice and hectic. Feel free to show me your most dance-able tracks as well.

Nice track! I would probably like it even more back in the day. It´s a little too hectic for me now though, nowadays when listening to electronic stuff it must have melodic progression, and be somewhat balanced between mind and body, meaning that it must make both my head and body dance.

I see, I thought that it was already finished since you only work 2 days on each. Looking forward to hear it again then.

I’m temped to re-install MnB:Warband with Prophecy of Pendor mod.

I´m playing through the original X-Com Enemy Unknown now. It´s damn hard compared to the 2012 remake, I completely forgot how some old games are seriously punishing. Great atmosphere and music.

You can finish every retro game within a couple of hours, provided you’re a great player. Obviously that’s why retro games are way harder than modern games. No checkpoints, no save games, no unlimited lives, no further informations. It’s only you, your skills and your joystick (preferably Quickshot II Turbo). That’s why I think it’s funny when people are whining about “hard” games like Dark Souls, that don’t even have a “game over” screen. They don’t know what they’re talking about, because they never experienced videogames in their original form. Right now I’m playing such a “hard” game, it’s “Wo Long Fallen Dynasty”. People are quitting playing that game because of the first boss. Yes, he’s not easy, but not too hard either. It took 10 tries to defeat him, which isn’t much in comparison to the amount of tries that were needed to finish some retro games…

A pro gamer did also know the algorithm. All the retro games had an algorithm how the enemies are moving and attacking. If you knew the algorithm a game was as easy as stealing a baby the lolly.

I’m playing Cyberpunk 2077 and it’s a really nice game, just glad I begun playing it years after release as all its notorious bugs have been fixed.

Recently I watched a Bazooka Bill (gotta love the title) play through on Youtube and realized it only had six tiny but indeed hard levels. I’m currently planning a retro game a will have difficulty between checkpoints in mind as long as it’s doesn’t feel too much like a chore but instead add a sense of completion satisfaction.

Definitely  Modern games must be played in hardcore to be hard, die one time and delete your character. If not it´s like old games with cracked trainer-mode.

Cyberpunk looks nice @Garf. And btw, I love your music

Just make sure to use Frame Generation in settings to make it run more fluidly, it can be quite demanding. I love your music too

Sure, but if you know how the enemies are moving and attacking current “hard” games are easy, too.
But I didn’t know about “pro gamers” back in the days. So they were earning money by playing games, just like a today’s “pro gamer”?

Yes, but without those nice cracktros with those very nice cracktunes. :notes:

Too bad it’s almost common practice to release unfinished crap as full price (AA and AAA) titles. I expect games to be 100% finished, complete and uncut. And I expect an experience like when I was a kid. Insert game, push the button, start playing the full game, have fun. That’s why I usually play on consoles, always offline just like back in the days. And that’s why I have to give up playing unfinished games like Cyberpunk 2077 in case there’s no re-release of the fixed, finished and peferably complete (incl. “DLCs”) version (just like a game of the year edition) as a retail version. Otherwise I could switch to PC. But oldschool or nothing! :upside_down_face:

Haha yeah, cracktro´s rule!

There were less competitions for gaming back in the day, the old pro´s earned less. Nowadays there are monthly classic NES Tetris tournaments where players can earn quite a lot. I have seen at 5000+ USD to the winner several times.

Unfinished AAA games is a bad culture, wtf. But you should try Elden Ring again, with gear-upgrades and no bugs it´s not a bad game, I just don´t like the DLC.
