I just played through The Last Ninja Remix for C64. Really nice to experience a different version of LN2, it felt like a different game. But it reminds me how perfect the original is, just changing small things like the UI makes the graphics look muddy and less impressive.
So you like Splinter Cell, I like stealth games, played Thief 3 a lot lately. I only tried Splinter Cell a little on PSP many years ago, maybe give the new ones a try sometime.
There are no new ones, Blacklist is the latest Splinter Cell, and it was released in 2013. I’ve never played any Splinter Cell before, but I do like stealth games. The almost perfect one (almost because it’s not and never will be finished) is Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain, that’s one of the best modern games ever despite it’s not finished. But Splinter Cell Blacklist is quite nice too. I also like the early Assassin’s Creed games (II, Brotherhood, Revelations) aka the Ezio story, that are also pretty nice stealth games.
Yeah, The Last Ninja Remix (C64) isn’t part of my collection, guess why. 
It’s a shameless copy of The Last Ninja 2, and the UI and OST are worse. And you’re absolutely right, The Last Ninja 2 is perfect. It’s the most impressive game on C64, best grafics, best sound, best theme. Easy in my retro games top 3 of all time.

I see, so that game is from 2013. Good to hear that latest Metal Gear Solid is good, those titles are epic. Remember my jaw dropped when the story in MGS2 had some sick turns towards the end. Yeah, some of the LN remix songs are outright shallow versions.

Hard to pick though, so much great stuff, but those games I played the most.
BTW: Dark Souls 2 is now the most played in that series for me. Once I overcame the chaotic maps and clunkiness, it became a really nice open world that can be played in many different ways for each playthrough. I know you mostly play games once, but if you play games many times, this one will last the longest time, IMO. It feels even more open than Elden Ring, if you know how to you can get max weapon very early on. Nice weapon mechanics that are not present in the other games. It’s still the ugliest of them, though, or the art style is incomplete and the animations are not as good as the other games.
Anyone wanna beat my NES Tetris score? 
This year is different, music isn’t prioritized. I should make some music maybe, but instead I’m playing games for distraction. Yesterday I initiated my PS5 and started to play Bleak Faith Forsaken. It’s technically outdated, but it has a great atmosphere and the music is awesome. And it was created by only 3 (!) persons, just like games in the good old days.
Yes, but some are greater than others. For example, Dark Souls is greater than Dark Souls 2 and greater than Dark Souls 3 too. 
Tetris? Yes! NES? No!

I’m replaying Elden Ring on my new silicon macintosh now. It’s sick, PC version emulated in mac os runs at maximum gfx and 60 FPS. These new computers are amazing and I’m happy that didn’t experience one until now. It’s like going from C64 to Amiga 500. It renders my Renoise songs in lightning speed, can’t even look away from the screen before it’s done.
I finished “Thymesia” (it’s way too short) a couple of weeks ago.

That’s one of the best soulslike games imho. Way better than expected. I just paused for a week and tried to do some music again.

To be honest, been playing pretty much only retro games with RetroAchievements.
Countless SHMUPs from PC Engine, Saturn, Genesis…
I’m currently playing Castlevania Dracula X aka Rondo of Blood (the PC Engine version, the SNES one is garbage). After beating it, plan to jump to Super Castlevania IV, which is considered the best by most.
Lately I’ve been binging the Castlevania classics, which I always hated (I’m sorry, but always prefered Metroid in this category). I find the level design too ‘trolling’, knockback makes me crazy, climbing stairs is a chore, movement is weird. BUT I’m actually having fun after watching this Angry Video Game Nerd video and understanding the context and limitations of the game when it was released. It hits different this way
I’m currently playing the only Souls game that I haven’t played yet.
Congrats, these are my least played systems besides all those handhelds. In fact I never ever played anything on PC Engine and SEGA Saturn. PC Engine was a Japan exclusive system first, a couple of years later it was also released in the US under TurboGrafx. I don’t know your age, but kudos to you for playing games that were probably released before you were born.

How do you like it, @TNT? I played the original not long ago, was refreshing with moderate difficulty and open design, new souls games can become a little spammy, faster.
It was quite nice, but there are some downs. There are no bonfires, upgrading armor isn’t possible, there’s no option to sell stuff from your inventory, the entire game was quite easy in comparison with the Dark Souls series and it seems to be shorter. I also completely ignored the “world tendencies”. Best part of the game was Latria, finally some dark atmosphere.
Speaking of dark atmosphere, I also finished Cronos The New Dawn:
It’s the best survival horror game in a long time. The atmosphere is great throughout the entire game, the story is quite interesting and there are some cool features. The game was clearly inspired by Dead Space, but I think it’s even better than the Dead Space Remake. I’m currently playing the Dead Space Remake, but it doesn’t catch me as much as the original 18 years ago (so far, I’m in chapter 2 right now).

Great game,i finished it 2 times already and i agree its better than the Dead Space remake.It sold well so we will get a sequel i think
I only heard about the PC Engine for the first time in ~2020. I only knew the Saturn, since Sega was huge in my country (Brasil) in the 90s and early 00 and I was born very close to its launch. They have some hidden gems, but Japan exclusives, specially in the SHMUP and ‘Run n Gun’ genres. Not to mention Castlevania Rondo of Blood.
It’s definitely the easiest souls-game, but I enjoyed that a lot, even if many things are missing, as you point out. World tendencies is a little strange mechanic, but when paying attention to it it you can get a really nice sword that made the game better for me, “Dragon Bone Smasher”, and another place you get some material needed to upgrade that sword and Kris Blade (to buff sorcery).
Cronos looks nice.
A friend just gave me a PS4 so I can finally play Bloodborne. Have to buy the game and a controller first though.
Cool, you can grab Bloodborne for PS4 for 10 € on eBay. On PS4 you also NEED TO play Days Gone, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Sekiro. For sure one of the best modern games of all time.
I don’t care about sorcery in those kind of games. A sword is all I need. The claymore treated with dragon stone carried me through the entire game, even though there weren’t enough materials for upgrading properly.
We’ll see. You never know, crazy things that no one can comprehend are happening all the time.
So, finished the Dead Space Remake. Next game will be:
Mafia 1 and 2 were great.

Yeah, Claymore is very nice, can find early and is powerful. I also used that on the first playthrough. Looking forward to Bloodborne, will take some time before I begin though, must be ready for new game. I’m only playing emulator stuff and watching Amiga demos these days.
Been in a bit of a gaming funk since completing Elden Ring, it’s not a fair thing to do, but in comparison to ER most other games just don’t measure up. Might look into PS4 emulation and try to get Bloodborne running at 4k60fps.
Elden Ring is fantastic, even without patches (personally I finished it with all those annoying bugs), but it isn’t the top even patched imho. I think on PS4 Days Gone, Red Dead Redemption II, Witcher III and Sekiro are better, Metal Gear Solid V (which is even unfinished) at least equal. And I just don’t mention The Last of Us Remastered because it’s originally a PS3 game. When it comes to FromSoftware, my favorite is still Sekiro. Bloodborne is great, Dark Souls is greater and Sekiro is the greatest.
I finished Mafia The Old Country, as always nice story but short. It’s kinda like playing a movie. So next time it has to be a longer game again. That’s why I’m about to play Cyberpunk 2077 in a current version on PS5:
