I do rate Sekiro very highly, Elden Ring is No.1, then joint 2nd Bloodborne/Sekiro in terms of Fromsoft games. I keep looking at CP2077 in my Steam library and meaning to start it. Let me know what you think about it.
Dark souls 3 is probably my favorite game of all time. I also love 1 and 2, but 3 is the masterpiece imo. Had fun with Elden Ring but it felt kinda “filler” 80% of the time. Too many uninteresting dungeons (I beat every single one of them in a completionist frenzy when I had covid). I prefer a smaller scope game that’s well tied than a huge open world with half empty spaces. That said, those are some GORGEOUS empty spaces hahaha.
About Cyberpunk 2077, it’s a much smoother experience nowadays. They literally remade the progression system. The expansion is even better than the base game too, much more polished overall. Just expect egg-frying temperatures coming from the CPU lol. It still makes my 3600 cough.
Good to hear I did well waiting for CP2077 to get better, I’m fully expecting it to hammer my PC, especially as I play in 4K - I might have to use FSR.
After playing for hours and hours the game is just about to start. It starts as soon as Keanu shows up, which takes a while, you need to finish a whole story plot first. Now people are coming from everywhere to place orders, and the map is full of symbols. It’s similar to GTA, but everything is neon Cyberpunk and your decisions are affecting the story progression like in Mass Effect. The upgrade and tech system is a little rabbit hole, MANY options. I like the story so far. So if you’re interested in a game like this, go for it. After years of patching it’s playable now, and I was waiting 13 years for it. I’ve got the Ultimate Edition, that includes also the DLC.
Haha, I’m also the type of guy that needs to explore literally everything in a game, but I don’t care about trophies at all (no platinum needed). Yeah, the dungeons in Elden Ring were lame sometimes, but imagine also not getting any reward for exploring due to bugs. Every chest in that game was EMPTY, some missions were unplayable, there were only 3 ashes and the weapon upgrade system was corrupted. That’s why I also prefer Dark Souls 3 over Elden Ring, and the atmosphere is better. But I think the masterpiece is Dark Souls part 1, the level design alone is GREAT. Of course part 3 is technically superior and the DLCs were cool.
I’m still amazed, to this day, by the vertical world design in Dark Souls 1 and how it connects the areas (and their respective lores). For example, Blighttown forming above Lost Izalith’s ruins (the witches domain) and connecting to The Great Hollow and finally to Ash Lake, which are both the result of the war against the dragons. The story is crazy and you can spend hours and hours of imagination trying to glue pieces together (all without screaming cutscenes at the player or walls of text). Just subtle story telling through world design. Beautiful.
I still don’t know any other (3d) game that managed to craft a ‘interconnected vertical world’ with such complex lore.
I’ll never forget the first time I got to Ash Lake haha. It made me really how crazy the world building is, with Lordran being on top of Archtrees, which obviously influenced Elden Ring’s Erdtrees
I didn’t use any guides so it was a huge surprise. I’d say Dark Souls better rewards the player for blindly exploring every corner of the map.
I started Darkest Dungeon II, afraid of missing what I liked the most in the first one (Hamlet management) but in the end I love it !
Runs are quite long, too long. However, I get hooked up on it still, and spend way more time playing than a normal human being should lol
Was looking for something to play on my switch during the French heatwave and avoid having my burning laptop on my lap.
Not a good thing for MBC though, as I spend all my time playing lol
I just completed Quest For Glory 1 by Sierra, 256 colour version. Amazing game.
I assume that all those trees were heavily ispired by germanic Irminsul. But anyway, you got it. What makes those souls games by FromSoftware special is the fact that exploring is being rewarded by discovering even entire new worlds, and no fucking symbols are on any maps to be cleared (like everything made by Ubisoft). Interesting, I guess that I’ve never seen the map of Dark Souls, reminds me of Turrican (even though it’s not that vertical).
15 days left, more than enough. I bet I spent more time playing. I already broke my record in terms of the number of finished games. Usually I play around 3 games each year, but this year I already finished 11 games, and it’s still June. ![]()
@BriocheBaps
I played a little further (Cyberpunk), so yeah the game is a mixture of GTA, Mass Effect and any Ubisoft game. The main missions are great, the story is good, the world is cool, but indeed you also “have to” clear the map. You don’t need to do all those same side quests (steal X and bring it to Y, kill X, knock out Cyberpsychos, do this, do that etc.) and exploration isn’t the same as in Rockstar games, there are also no random events and so on. But it’s quite good.
Just started Ori and the Blind Forest.
Late to the party. Heard about it years ago, but never took the time to look into it (too busy in Renoise, I rarely game
) Ended up booting up Linux on an external, installed Lutris and thought “this’ll be ok to spend some time with during the hot summer months”.
2 days later and I’m 10.5 hours into it
Visuals are gorgeous. Music too. Reminds me of Yoshi’s Island; which is a masterpiece. This game is up there without a doubt, very inspiring. Ginso Tree escape took way to much time , iykyk
I feel like a kid playing this shit at middle age
Turns out the Oboe player they hired on the score has worked on over 1400 films in his career.
Every level has a unique hand painted drawing. Over 7000 hand painted 2d drawings in this game design. Every nook and cranny is unique. ![]()
Definitely worth the time to check out. ![]()
Looks Good!

Was surprised I still can do a flying kick at 46.
Just finished the Rally career in Dirt 4 (on keyboard) on Brutal difficulty and all assists turned-off.
I’m thinking of giving another try at beating the Dead Space remake in Impossible difficulty… I want the “Hand Cannon” so bad!
I’m facing the boss of this game:
What do you guys have to say about Sony killing discs in January 2028? I say Sony is deceiving its customers. Just bought a PS5 disc version this year and now even GTA VI won’t be released on disc in fucking 2026? No disc no buy! Without discs there’s no right to exist for consoles in general. Switching to PC is the next logical step. I surely won’t spend 80-100 € in a monopoly shop for renting a digital only game license that can be cancelled at any time without compensations, not to mention using their unstable network that can go down at any time due to several reasons. PS6 will be a fucking 1500 € doorstop that’s infested with ads all over the place.
@hai_nguyen_dinh
You’re young. Wait until you turn 47. ![]()
PS5 is going to be the last console for me based on the no disc nonsense. Have had every PS since psone.
That said been enjoying Project Zomboid with all the new changes atm
Man, I never finished a Halo game too… I bought the Masterchief collection but for some reason (even though I love FPS games) none of the games “clicked” for me. The new remake though, looks awesome.
I finished CP2077 last week, really enjoyed it but have zero desire to replay it. I got everything I wanted from it and it was a really cool world, but the Fixer jobs were pretty repetitive by the end and it turns out I’d really rushed the story missions so I left Hanako “waiting at Embers” for about a month of in-game time lol. Highly recommend it, but it’s a one and done for me.
Yeah dude, I wouldn’t play it again either. I also left Hanako at Embers for a long time because at that point I hadn’t played the DLC Phantom Liberty yet, so Hanako had to wait until I finished the DLC. I got the nomad ending, which was ok.
A few weeks ago I played Remnant 2, I just still have to beat the end boss.
But I’m not in boss mood right now, the boss has to wait a little longer. Instead I signed up on GOG and bought “Die Siedler II” aka “The Settlers II” from 1996 on PC for 2,49 €. An all time classic, just as great as 30 years ago. That’s what I’m playing now. Without discs on consoles that’s most likely the future of gaming, at least for me. All I need to do is to buy a graphics card in order to play current games, because my onboard graphics card can only handle stuff from the 2010s or older.
