What Music Hardware Do You Own?

A PC, Telecaster guitar, acoustic guitar, a Fender Amp that I dont use (guitar rig is 10 times better), a 2 dollar mic : ). I need a real mic…

What’s with the centered comic sans? I’m sorry to be a snob but it just makes you look like an idiot.

Can’t get any sleep once again, so here’s my list:

Black Macbook, which have following connected:

  • Motu 8pre

kaoss pad 2
boss gt-3

I like seeing what people have, but I’d be interested to know if they use any of their hardware synths/drummachines etc on Renoise tracks.
If you do, what’s your approach? Multisample a patch or sequence the midi then bounce to audio or play via midi and use line in return etc? I’m still undecided what the best approach for me is hence the question… That’s probably another thread in itself :S

erm my current kit has this stuff in :
Fender Telecaster and a few other guitars and amps including a semi-acoustic
Roland MC808
Novation KS Rack
Yamaha CS01
Novaton Bass Station Rack
EMU Xtreme-Lead 1
Emagic MT4
M-Audio 1814 Firewire
Axiom 61 key controller

Currently using a MacBookPro hooked up to a big ass tft monitor in clamshell mode with renoise on.
Saving the pennies to get a Mac Pro so I can use my MacBookPro as a laptop again.
Got a quad core pc sitting there not in use, but I detest Windows.

In DIRE need of nearfield monitors!!!

I sold a lot more kit than this about 10 years ago and I miss every single bit of it. Especially my Roland JV1080, that thing could do everything.

My list of kit I ‘want’ is 5 times as long as this…

Did a font and a center really offend you that much that you had to attack me for it? I mean you COULD have just kept your opinions to yourself you know right? …there are groups for this sort of thing I hope your aware. When someone does something a little different you feel you have to point out what you see as a flaw publicly and demean them? You know who looks like the bigger “idiot”, as you put it, to a normal level headed person right?

anyway great tracks… had a look at your soundcloud and you have some decent work =) keep it up!

…one.

I did own a load of other drumachines and other hardware recently, such as a Jomox Xbase 09, Jomox Mbase, Quasimidi 309, Boss DR-660, but got rid of them all to fund some debts, but did make sure I made a big chunk of recordings so I have sounds I created on these bits of hardware in high quality sample format which I use to program my drums in renoise these days.

1090T AMD system/x64 win7 (beaten down to minimalism to act like xp :D)
yamaha HS80M monitors
maudio delta192
Evolution X-session knob box
some old awesome analogue akai mixer laurencedavies offloaded on me because he doesn’t have space :D
laurencedavies’ poly-evolver rack - on loan (I might buy… time will tell)
Yamaha CS-30 (my favourite thing in the world!)
Kenton Pro-Solo MkII - to control the CS from renoise

The sole purpose for what I have is to use with renoise, as I’m fairly narrow-sighted with regards to DAWs; this is all I need because I don’t really fully understand the capabilities of everything else that’s out there :). The CS is an interesting beast, because there’s some things you’d never be able to do with it playing it by hand, and likewise some things that you’d never be able to do controlling it from the CV/trigger input with a sequencer of some sort (like renoise through my pro-solo for instance)…partially due to the way it’s wired, in that you can’t use some things like eg->pitch and pitchbend when using Hz/V input… and partially because some of the level of detail you’d require to really show off it’s capabilities would require more hands than a single person has at their disposal, and a sequencer comes into it’s own as it can play the sounds while you work the knobs.

Essentially if you find some hardware you like the sound of, you’ll find a way to make it work for you if you’re interested enough. Hard to explain without having specific knowledge relevant to the exact piece of hardware you want to use. Using anything that can be controlled by midi is an absolute piece of piss with renoise, the midi control is nice and simple and the pattern sync recording means you never have trouble tracking your recordings once you get the hang of it. Same old rules apply with recording things you play live, renoise makes it no harder or easier… you’ll have jams you’re glad you recorded and ones you scrap before you’re finished playing… and of course ones you WISH you recorded :D

Happy musicing, and I hope you find what you’re looking for :)

EDIT: saw my sig, those specs are a bit out of date :D

Here’s my simple but great setup

Nord Micromodular
Alesis ION
Akai LPD8
Akai LPK25
Alesis multimix6FX

E-mu 1212M PCI
Presonus Digimax
Focal CMS-40 monitors (they are the best Price/quality ever for me)

As i am also a turntablist i use

Numark CDX
Korg KM-202 mixer (best xfader around)
Boss RC20

Cheers!

Wow, some pretty impressive lists here. Mine is pretty low-end, but it is adequate for my needs.

I have an Alpha Track, an NI Maschine Controller, an AKAI MPK25, an AKAI LPD-8, an AKAI LPK-25, an Edirol PCR-800, and a Presonus Firebox.

I don’t have as much on the side of hardware synths as everyone here as I’m mostly an electric bassist and amateur cellist.

My current setup is:

Electric bass: Schecter Diamond Series Elite 5
My cello
Fender Mandolin
M-Audio Firewrire 410
Yamaha S03
Roland XP-60
Lots of cheapo guitars, mostly acoustic

Not so much for me…

Korg N1
Korg D1600
Cheetah MS6 module
Boss DR-670
A selection of guitars (acoustic, semi-acoustic and electric) with Vox Valvetronix Amp
Some LP Congas and Bongos

Would love to get my hands on an old DX-7 again though… must save the pennies :)

None just my Laptop
