Goldie - Mother (60’min) album Saturnz Return CD1 Track 1
I’ve seen a couple of your posts with relaxing in mind.
Thought you might enjoy this: http://www.youtube.com/user/ANTsynth
Because of this post I listen to Jesus Jones - International Bright Young Thing.
If GEMA wouldn’t stop me, I’d watch it on YT.
Back on the Next Life again, unsurprisingly:
I love to read these pages and remember all that cool stuff that I like too!
mother by goldie…
most recently I’ve been listening to vsnares’ new ep but there’s no point in linking this here, as there’s a thread about it.
Let me link some other stuff that I feel deserves some play.
Krampfhaft, some juke from the netherlands: http://soundcloud.com/krampfhaft/spit-thunder
Ital tek’s new EP, he went from a really cool ambient dubstep sound to a more juke sound: http://www.planet.mu/discography/ZIQ311
BADBADNOTGOOD, some really smooth instrumental jazz / hiphop http://badbadnotgood.bandcamp.com/track/the-world-is-yours-brooklyn-zoo
and last but definitely not least, Mushen’s new album under the name of Kallipolis, give some playtime to a fellow renoiser! His album is 3$! http://kallipolis.bandcamp.com/album/kallipolis-lp
i don’t understand this juke style … it sounds like something i could enjoy if i was 12years old … tnx
for the Kallipolis album … it’s really good !
I see what you mean. First, melodically it’s the most basic you could get. Then you get this whole ghetto context around it which probably makes everyone puke except those who are really into it, personally I find it one of the most funny thing in music, ever.
It’s rhythmically that I find it super interesting, mostly because it’s never been done before. You get the cheapo ultra fast-paced hi-hats, claves, rim shots, anything you want as long as it’s cheesy, and you abuse of it in a way that will make the purist’s teeth grind themselves. Then you get the triplets toms doing whatever in the background along the steady yet destabilizing kicks that carry the track in the 160ish bpm.
The rhythm doesn’t end there. It’s the use of vocals as an additional layer of percussion that makes juke what it is, that absurdly repetitive yet fresh new sound.
ENTER SHIKARI
Quelle surprise
I think it’s been stuck in my head for three days straight…
I’m listening to lots of “brostep” and “complexro”… yanno, kinda like Skrillex.
Also, unrelated to that, I’m in love with techdiff and rotator.
Never been the biggest fan of Ministry, but they certainly reigned in their usual Ctrl+C & Ctrl+VVVVVVVVVVV for the final album.
