yeah choice, prince had some cool shit :)

Shit, I can hardly answer this one. It’s too hard, as I listen to so much stuff coming from the 80’s. Harold Faltermeyer - Axel F / Fletch Theme are some great candidates though, Jan Hammer - Crockets Theme too. Hmm, well, here’s 5 from the top of my head then:

  • Scotch - Primitive Man
  • Samantha Fox - Nothing’s Gonna Stop Me Now
  • Stevie Wonder - Go Home
  • Taffy - I Love My Radio
  • Queen - A Kind Of Magic

And I haven’t even mentioned Prince, Jarre, Kraftwerk, Digital Emotion, Depeche Mode, Michael Jackson, Kylie Minogue, Tina Turner, Laban etc…

Fun topic. :)

oh man, how could i forget!!

Stevie Wonder - “I just called to say i love you”!!!

In no particular order:

  • Duran Duran - A view to a kill
  • Cindy Lauper - Girls just wanna have fun
  • Talk Talk - Happiness is easy (wich btw has one of history’s greatest drum tracks)
  • Aha - Take on me
  • Don Henley - The boys of summer
  • Leonard Cohen - First we take Manhattan
  • Spandau Ballet - Through the Barricades

There are probably songs that are even more 80’s but these I actually like alot.

Purple Rain is still on my car-audio playlist…
I also respect a lot of his later work.

Duran Duran - The Reflex… it was their best in the 80’s (their best of all time still remains Ordinary World but that is already 90’s)
It surprises me nobody mentioned Dire Straits (Money for Nothing) or Love is a Battlefield - Pat Benatar.
how about Cliff Richard and the Young Ones with his revised version of “Living Doll”.
Here’s another very familiar icon from that time:
Pump up the Volume - M/A/R/R/S

I know I am a little late -

The songs that most say the 80s to me would have to be -

Duran Duran - Hungry Like a Wolf
Echo & The Bunnyman - Lips Like Sugar
Pat Benatar - Hell is for Children
The Cars - Tonight She Comes
The Police - Wrapped Around Your Finger
Missing Persons - Words
Pet Shop Boys - West End Girls
Informaton Society - Running
Gucci Crew - Sally
UTFO - Roxanne Roxanne
Whodini - Magics’ Wand - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_Q3UZN0CWE
Jonzun Crew - Pack Jam - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lodq4wTwYnU

Some great songs they have, but i started to dislike them when they started releasing a lot of covers.

y aren`t some clubtunes mentioned? E.g. Jack E. Makossa - the opera house
or hiphop Boogie downproductions - Criminal minded or even Omen -the Omen?

I could list millions, but here are a few choice slabs of 80s pop.

Trans-X - Living On Video (check out the PET8032 in the background)
Digital Emotion - Go Go Yellow Screen
Colonel Abrams - Trapped
Alexander O’Neal - Criticize
Yazoo - Don’t Go

Come on, you know you love it!
