Windows 10 Compatibility/Info Thread

Found this recently, regarding a tool to disable all the tracking bits we know about:https://github.com/10se1ucgo/DisableWinTracking

Oh, and this thing to consider:

So the difference in performance is pretty much margin of error at most. I will say though in my experience Windows 8 seems to run lighter than Windows 7, not faster but just uses slightly less resources, which may make a difference on crappier machines.

The last update broke the solution I had posted for dual wallpaper. I’m pretty much speechless, I can’t even begin to understand why. I don’t think there’s a way to do it now without 3rd party tools.

edit: Well I fixed it by… updating again… So it works now. WTF?

Well, I could have sworn it worked at least once since upgrading, but now I am no longer able to load Renoise 3.0.1. It gets as far as the “starting a new song” part of the load screen and just hangs there.

I’ve had no issues with Renoise in Win10 at all, but I installed Renoise after upgrading to Windows 10. Maybe try reinstalling Renoise?

I just tried that tonight and it does the same thing. I don’t know what it is. Maybe my audio configuration…

Does your template that it creates new songs with contain any plugins? Can you launch Renoise by opening an existing .xrns, preferably one without plugins?

I tried several songs and it always freezes at the exact same point - the point at which it’s about to display the GUI.

Maybe it’s a weird driver thing. Are you using on board video or a card? Have you checked for Windows 10 drivers for whichever it is?

Currently updated from windows 7 to windows 10. Seems everything is fine.

…so I went back and tried 2.8.2, which crashed trying to load a plugin (I have installed several since I last ran it). I then ran 3.0 (as opposed to 3.0.1, which is the one that hasn’t been loading), and it noted the crash from 2.8.2, disabled that plugin (Kontakt 16 out)…AND IT FINISHED LOADING. So I’m currently trying to catch up and render a few things, and then I’ll try to close and reopen it to see if it works again.
