If I ever spent money on something as intangible as software, I spend every waking hour learning as much as I can about it.

I don’t think Renoise is limiting in any real way for making modern music. It is practically perfect now, and it can make anything you want, so if people are jumping ship to a massively more expensive unit, I feel that they may be on the robbing end of the scale.
Having said that, I chug the warez like the best of the them, so I can’t really criticize. My point was more that, don’t worry about what a fly by night warez collector thinks about your baby, because the chances are he hasn’t spent any time getting to know it (due to the lack of investment), so his opinions are irrelevant.
haha, when i posted the message i had before i editted it, i was becoming absolutely furious. was working in renoise and bam this thread totally invaded my train of thought came here wrote some mean stuff. left for a bit went and had a cigarette, just toally angry the whole time, came back leaned over to my moniter, read what i wrote. thought about it for a good few minutes, then changed it.
went to bed. tried to meditate, couldn’t focus, tried to sleep couldn’t sleep. my eyes finally adjusted to the dark, noticed my blanket was full of static electricity, played like i was the sith for about half an hour under the covers. crazy sparks jumping around everywhere. then now about 3 hours later, i’m much better.
If I personally let shit like this get to me… I’d probably let more serious shit get to me even more… and I don’t want to know what I’d be like if I was angered over the serious shit in my life… I’d probably end up violent or something… and that would be bad.
I prescribe more playing with static filled blankets for you… every night if need be. And, perhaps you might want to watch some monty python while going troll hunting on the internets to get inspiration for truly lame but funny comebacks to their OH SO SERIIUS INTERNET DRAMA.
Really though… with so many stupid people in the world, how can one stand to get angry at generic stupidity?

I really hoped Renoise 2.0 would have a shoestring… but alas it does not. I’ve been using Renoise for 20 years, and waiting all that time. From now on, I will be composing all my music on a pair of sneakers I got at the thrift store in the bad part of town. It will be more authentic sounding than anything Renoise can do. Renoise was never analog enough for my liking anyway.
