New Tool (3.4): TimeFriendo v0.2 (BPM to ms/hertz calculator)

Hi, everyone.

This is my first super simple Renoise LUA tool.

It automatically calculates time divisions in miliseconds and hertz for the current BPM.

I made it mostly as a reference chart for my VCV Rack patches but also to set up release times for some synthesizers and even compressors.

Thanks to @esaruoho for helping me with the table formatting and providing some LUA instructions for my newbie *ss.

Update v0.2 [June 9th 2025]
New Features:

  • BPM divisions can now be scaled
  • Change BPM straight from the tool window
  • Values can be selected for copying (see To-Do list below)
  • Fixed notifier feedback loop upon changing BPM.

Animation 2

Note: You can assign a keybind to open the window (I recommend Shift+ ’ to be close to the metronome, which is ').

Feel free to modify and do whatever you want to the tool, just post here so everyone can benefit from it.

Download HERE [v0.2]

To Do:

  • Quickly copy values by clicking on them [Currently unsupported by the API, apparently, so using a workaround for now: values are textboxes which can be selected by the user and reset to default if changed. Hit me up if you have ideas for workarounds]

Please let me know if you find any bugs

wow thats so powerfull to me… i never use Delay & Reverb Time Calculator again!

Thank you man

Neat. I’ve made a similar tool without the frequency part.

@slujr is this what you were talking about?

what’s the delay & reverb time calculator?
a separate tool? got a link?

Good stuff thank you

Not exactly, no. I was hoping for a table (or mode) that converts pitch to frequency in Hz and milliseconds across various octaves for all the notes. So that delay values for tuned resonators could be easily applied without having to look it up externally.

That would be a sweet addition to this tool, especially if we could copy values with a click or double click

Online.:

WooooW

Oh I hadn’t seen that one. Probably wouldn’t have made my own
Well, it’s done now haha

I was also tired of hitting alt+tab and using online tools. Glad it’s useful for someone else, since it’s so specific

Made some small but significant changes to the tool today.

Original post updated!

Lemme know if you get bugz (which are expected, since it’s my first try at LUA).

v0.1 was already useful to me but v0.2 makes it almost perfect. Good work!
