Renoise 2 Vs Sunvox

is quite a nice system that they have made with sunvox. i have it on my ipod touch g4 for on the road when i feel the certain need to make a couple of unrelated patterns filled with all kinds of noises :walkman:

nevermind

"Verry nice …
I wonder what the outcome would be if sunvox and renoise dev. joined forces "

yes!, please, please let this happen. Ive been using sunvox on the pda after switching from milkytracker and i can honestly say this is some really really nice software. so portable + i can get more than 8 hours of battery life!! really great software, still needs some things, but totally great to use already. Really hope development on sunvox continues into the future

Another great update !!
Congratulations, keep up the good work.

thank you nightradio!!!

great stuff, would be fun to try this on an ipad.

edit:

am I right to conclude that the only way to change and select my soundcard is through changing the config file in the install folder?

Right now it auto-selects asio4all, but I’m not sure how to select my Emu 202 drivers. Having the sound only coming from the laptop speakers sucks :)

e.g. check in rns how your devices are ordered (audio device tab).
then set the first digit to the device and second to asio or directx (as number).
//audiodevice hw:0,0

you can try it yourself starting with the default and than increasing the device number till you got sound where you want it.

be sure to uncomment the entry (delete the “//”).

E: typo

E2: thanks for this great module tracker. demoscenizm all over it.

Ah, I read up about changing the config file but didn’t delete the // , hence it didn’t work for me :) , thanks for the tip.

err, deleted the // and tried a bunch of different numbers, but it always opens with asio4all, dunno what I’m doing wrong? Maybe it doesn’t recognize emu 202 drivers? Will check the sunvox forum for solutions.

Examples of sunvox_config.ini files:

//Windows, first ASIO device
audiodevice 0
audiodriver asio

//Windows, second ASIO device (for example - second audio-card in your system)
audiodevice 1
audiodriver asio

//Windows, first DirectSound (ignore ASIO if it exists) device
audiodevice 0
audiodriver dsound

//Windows, second DirectSound (ignore ASIO if it exists) device
audiodevice 1
audiodriver dsound

And the new video for dessert :)

For all SunVox musicians: Sunvox Compo #1 has begun! Deadline - October 31.
Details: http://www.warmplace.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1830

I came here to mention that too, but it looks like you beat me to it!

I really like Sunvox as it’s own piece of software. It’s basic, there are not many frills and no real chance to add anything, save for loading your own samples. The interface is different, but for me, that always lends itself to another way of thinking and perhaps approaching songs differently. I like the limited palette, sometimes I just want some bleepy goodness.

I may be odd in the fact I generally like using software in it’s most vanilla format, use it for what it can do best and combine the results in other software.

In using it to write a song for this compo, I’ve really come to appreciate the software… It’s simply a lot of fun to use!

The tracking period has come to a close. We’re now in the voting phase. Voting is only for participants, but here are some download links if you want to check out the tunes:
