I am not a coder so I thought i would post a tool idea in case anyone else wants to do some work
When entering midi data with a midi keyboard in “chord mode”, the notes will be placed left to right according to which one you press first on your keyboard.
Wouldn’t it be neat with a tool that organized any notes on the same row from left to right starting with the lowest one? This is the most usual way to enter chords in a tracker, and would make editing a bit easier in wait for a piano roll
(Even better if it was a native feature in Renoise - the ability to choose placing by pitch or by delay when entering midi in chord mode. Today, even when quantization is on it is still ‘random’ (by delay). Not sensible.

+1 Has been suggested before.
When I record chords in a track the notes never gets in the order I like to view them
Example:
This is what I want to see when I play/record a C:
C-4 E-4 G-4 (In other words in the order the notes appear on the keyboard)
This (or similar) is what I most often get:
G-4 C-4 E-4 (Which is the same but for various reasons are much harder to work with)
I would like to right click the track and choose:
Sort Chord Notes by -> Rising/Falling.
Would save a lot of extra work and so on…
Sorting notes to subcolumns by pitch when recording chords would greatly reduce work needed when distributing chords for multiple instruments. Changing bass note to bass instrument would be simple task of selecting column and swapping instruments with ext edit instead of hunting around or rerecording basenotes as solo. Arranging notes this way might also make it easier to read chords (lowest pitch on the left).
This might be way too late for current beta program but it would be oh so nice to ha…
Just a small and easy to apply idea.
When you edit notes in the pattern editor you can only change the note along with the octave number.
To make it easier to voice things differently(play chord notes higher or lower) I think we should be able
to edit the octave number independantly. This way we can quickly rearrange the notes for different interval sounds.
Also, I think that renoise should recognize and display chords better. Notes are not laid out by their position on the keyboard(like in …

Here`s one I made earlier…
it has a keybinding for the current track in pattern “Re-Order Notes By Pitch ”
renoise beta 2.7 version:
1836 2_7Re-order Notes.xrnx
And if you haven`t seen it already, you might find a use for ticky roll:

Thanks, Ledger. Your tools seems great and i just downloaded a bunch of them. Small features but very practical.
Sorry for my double posting.

Hi Ledger. Just tried this tool and found it does not respect note lengths.
For example:
A —
— E
Off Off
becomes
A
E
Off
Off
Is this a known limitation?

Yes afraid so for the moment. I never released this one officially, but may re-visit it some time.
Noted as a feature request.
