Indeed asked for before, but I wonder how this would look in the pattern editor as it is already so dense with information. I think they’ve implemented something like a vertical waveform in Buzz.
im thin it is usefull its only my idea but if renoise have this as a optional function will be great. and transparency bar over a track to control a viev for sequencer<->a sample view.
i make a visualisation of my idea:)
Renoise sample view

Hello.
It would be fantastic if you could put a vertical waveform on a track type, for external sources or a long wave when you record.
The quantisation could be defined in relation to the ticks for beat, and the waveform could be zoomed enlarging also the gap between one note to another, so that the sync can be manually made without switching between a visualisation and the track page.
Please do this, it’s the Paradigm Shift that can really make ReNoise the best software all-around.

FS…
i’m not sure if i or someone else has suggested this already but i’ve been thinking about it a bit:
basically i was thinking about the piano roll idea as well as trying to figure out how renoise could be used more as a mastering and mixing tool (i’ve often wished that i could mix down tracks for production in renoise so that i could do it tracker style with tracker effects, etc.).
i know that a horizontally oriented timeline is kind of the norm for audio editing, but couldn’t you theoretically…
