If you’ve ever seen a IT project at work, you’ll know the status in percents is ‘more impossible’ than getting a consistent and just ETA prediction on a windows file transfer.
Honestly, I like the approach the devteam uses. Renoise already is quite evolved and there is room for threads like this one. Let them work in peace and release a high quality version which is ready whenever it is (considered to be) ready. High quality will more than make up for the waiting time.
…and then after all this “i want renoise3 now” whining, everyone will be like “ah it sucks, i’m staying with 2.8”

Yeah, I tried it myself yesterday: you actually can write a song in Renoise 2.8.2 and it comes with some good bugfixes, too.
So what could I expect from R3 except a refreshed motivation to write songs?
At least there is some prediction on windows ETA prediction. Renoise team prefers the zero information politics, and is obviously not listening to users.
IMO kind of ignorant, … I hate it, really I’m pissed off. 
I love IT projects, i was heavily into it when i was young. Even made a hot air balloon fall down the screen and Michael Row the Boat Ashore. If you need some help developing Renoise 3.0 i shure know a few tricks in Basic on my C64.

I mean, they’ve already informed us that the 3.0 version is very much in development, and they’ve asked the users to accept their way of going forward with it. What else do we need to know…?
We are not entitled to any more information. However, with so many users feeling entitled to such information and the actual product itself, the only result will probably be much lower incentives for the devs to keep going further after 3.0. Renoise shouldn’t feel like a burden or a pressure for anyone, including the devs.

I think part of the problem here is that lots of users might feel that there’s still a sense of “collective ownership” going on - or at least should be going on, while the developers might feel that such notion is counter-productive to actual development. Or maybe that it’s good it theory, and a communitarian ideal to strive for, but doesn’t work in practice.
